Nyack Main Essentials - Featured Reviews (181)
I’ve been going to Main Essentials for years and finally got around to writing a review after stopping by again recently. This place has ALWAYS been consistently incredible in every way: the owners and staff are some of the friendliest, sweetest people ever, and the food is just absolutely heavenly. It is one of the rare places in Rockland where you can get a truly delicious, flavor-packed, home-cooked, and AFFORDABLE all-vegan food. I really missed this place during the peak of COVID and am glad they opened back up (though they're still take-out only). Since it’s in the heart of downtown Nyack though, the beach with outdoor tables and benches are just a short walk away, where you can enjoy your food with a view. Whenever I go, I always get their hot bar items in a bowl; these hot bar items change everyday and they’ve been fantastic every time I’ve been. The pictures here show 2 PACKED bowls with all the hot bar items, for just $15… amazing prices for even more amazing food. Their mock meats are always bursting with delicious, mouth-watering flavors and pleasant textures; their vegetables are perfectly cooked and seasoned; and their rice and beans are richly flavored and spiced. I’ve also tried their juices and smoothies in the past, which are always fresh, delicious, healthy, and well-priced. I’m also a big fan of their Jamaican “beef” patties made of seitan. The seitan is boldly flavored and well-seasoned, and the patty dough is crispy and flaky— a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. This is a gem of a location in Nyack, Rockland, and the entire state of New York. I can’t recommend it enough, and all my friends (vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters alike) who I’ve been here with throughout the years would wholeheartedly agree!!
These people have it all right. Friendly, good food and affordable. It was a pleasure going in for lunch and being met with a smiling face. Highly recommend.
They have been closed for renovations. We check weekly to see if they’ve reopened. Truly wondering if they ever will at this point. Missing some of the best and only true Caribbean vegetarian food around Rockland.
We literally drive regularly from Midtown Manhattan for the vegan beef patties and Dominican/Caribbean food.
I found a favorite place to eat out. So welcoming, friendly and informative I had to call friends to join me. I was welcomed into the family and left full. Full of joy, full of health wise fuel to accomplish my daily tasks. A best kept secret in the village of Nyack.
Delicious vegan Caribbean food. I drive an hour out of my way to come here once a week. It's delicious, the service is great (they are so nice!) And did I mention that the food is delicious? Because it really is. Not vegan health food, this is vegan comfort food. They have a menu you can order from or call and order take out that invites empanadas, and other main dishes. But I love their daily plate, "Beef" stew, collard greens, rice and beans and sweet plantains. It's great because it always give me a little variety and it's always -you guessed it- really really delicious!
Amazing vegan food! The man serving us was super nice and helpful and everything they had was vegan, and what we got (rice&beans, ribs, and curry chicken) was soo delicious, we'll definitely come back!
Went in on a very rainy day because it was the closest vegan spot from the highway, and was very pleasantly surprised! Their food is seasoned to perfection and the seitan so juicy!! I’m a bit sensitive to spicy foods, but it wasn’t a problem at all. Will definitely hit this spot again. Would recommend the Rib empanada 😋
Although itâs a limited menu, if you want simply the best falafels that youâll find anywhere, this is the place. Perfectly seasoned, and baked, not fried, with a choice of excellent sauces. A great variety of smoothies as well.
I'm the type of person who is apprehensive about working out, especially in a group setting or a class. I took a gamble on trying out CrossFit Momentum to see if it was a good fit. 1 year later I am so happy that I did, I am making a ton of progres
My family has been attending 5150 for over a year now. Itâs become more than a martial arts academy; itâs a true second family. Professors OâKeeffe and Shapiro are wonderful instructors who genuinely care for not only skill development, but als

I have bought 2 birthday cakes a year apart. The first was a white cake with pistachios and chocolate. This year a white chocolate cheese cake with oreo crust. Both were incredible. Reasonable price. Able to accommodate a last minute order
I love to eat at this place and order take out regularly ($75 -$100 a week) but the owner changed the rules of her rewards program and will only allow people to get the rewards for in store purchases only. **Editing this review due to the owner res

Wow, came here on a recommendation. Didnât look like much outside and inside I thought they only had ice cream. But then I sat in the cozy back area and had the best salad Iâve had since was in Italy.
