Re: 156 Spring Street Location.
This cool old house converted into a hostel is a great place to stay if you’re on a budget. Free coffee and packages of quick oats for breakfast. Location is excellent, close to nice restaurants and coffee shops, but away from the craziness of downtown. Both upstairs and main floor porches are well furnished and good common areas to hang out in. Self check in/out was convenient, and the beds are quite comfortable. There is also a free little book library on the street.
Not the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed at - floors were dirty and quite a bit of dust in the room, dust bunnies under the beds and lockers (including an old sock I uncovered), and bathroom sinks often had hair in and around them. It doesn’t seem that rooms get thoroughly cleaned and checked between guests. Also, there was cold water in the evenings when everyone was showering or using water at the same time. They could use a larger hot water heater to accommodate the number of guests staying there at the same time. Security was also an issue, as the back door did not close properly (even though there was a reminder on the door to shut it all the way) and I often found the door open late at night.
It is an old house which adds to the charm, but a little maintenance and cleaning could go a long way in providing a more comfortable stay for guests. It was still a good stay, I had no major issues and enjoyed my time in the city, but I wouldn’t rush back to stay here.
Nice quiet place with a private parking area. Stayed extra long on my checkout day repairing my motorcycle chain in the parking lot and wasn't bothered or asked to leave. Check in was smooth and done completely through the phone, building and room is accessed with pin number. Free coffee.
Nice place for the price, clean, quiet, friendly staff, the house at 152 Spring street affords you access to two shared kitchens and three washrooms. No laundry. About a 20 min walk to main downtown/historic district. Decent neighborhood.
But I would like to warn others that I took a nap on the couch on the porch and woke up with flea bites. So yeah, avoid that couch lol
Rooms were okay.
We had a huge problem but couldn't get anyone on the phone or to answer our texts after 7:30pm. It took us two hours to sort out. Beware of the bunk bed ladders, they can easily be lifted up and therefore you could fall very easily.
Good hostel and close enough to beach which makes the money saved worth it. Safe parking, clean bathrooms, comfortable beds, and more. Unfortunately, the air conditioner did not seem to be running as it was toasty inside but it's an older home and lots of bodies in one room. Plus I was sunburnt so maybe it would have been cooler in better circumstances. Good stay.
This was a great experience! My mom was staying at MUSC after surgery and the hostel is close enough to walk. I was also able to walk to King Street and felt super safe as a single lady walking around by myself. Super clean and had an all around great experience plus I was grateful to be able to park my car in city with no parking.
As a solo traveller I had hoped to make some connections and a generally social yet relaxed atmosphere. However this was not the case. I knew it was self check in but there was no welcome from what I assume were the owners in the property facing the hostel. They simply stood and stared at me after Id arrived, never said hello or welcome. Any other guests I encountered were polite but very much kept to themselves. Not even to share a drink or chat in the communal kitchen or on the shared veranda which was a shame.||However location and facilities snd air con were good. House is creaky and i could hear every single movement of the guest above but I kind of knew this beforehand. however no one was noisy late at night.| no tvs in the rooms is not ideal. The window had thin cream blinds which prevented me sleeping properly sadly
We used this for a party- had a blast! It had so many activities and even outdoor area. The bartenders were great and so friendly. The space was not only fun but beautiful. Would highly recommend for a party.
It was a beautiful studio unlike any others in town with interesting use of the space to display the artwork. I especially love the elephant in the room upstairs and the swing in front of the art work on the ground floor. I went back a few times duri

We are headed to Charleston next week and will stay at 86 Cannon for the 4th time. We are building a home in the area and have made this hotel our home away from home whenever we are in town. Not only is the property lovely, but the staff is beyond
