Northside Motel - Motel in North Muskegon - 1145 Whitehall Rd, USA

This motel might be a work in progress, but our room wasn't part of the progress. The exterior looks like it was redone but as far as the rooms, I can only comment on the one we stayed in. Dingy, dim, and smelly. Maybe even a little creepy. Window treatments need to be replaced or cleaned. My wife wanted to leave. I told her there was a sign in the office that said: no refunds. We fortunately had a blanket that we brought along. We put it on top of the bed and slept on top of that all night without covering up. Your best bet would be to ask to see the inside of you room before you pay for anything. After 67 years we're still learning.

Price wise is reasonable, as far as motels go. The atmosphere here isn't comfortable. Rooms are very cramped, except the kitchenette ones. Staff, owners I believe, are friendly enough, except the maintenance guy or whatever he is. Kitchenettes are worth it, regular rooms aren't in my opinion. Unless you wanna just get the room sleep right away until you check out, because the beds are comfortable enough

Love the owners. Good people with big hearts! Rooms need updating though. But bed was comfy, had mini fridge and microwave. Great location. Walking distance to groçery store, gas station, pharmacy, church, local fast food and a few restaurants

Small. Clean. Cheap. The room even smelled clean, and the guy in the front office was very friendly, and accommodating. If the room was bigger, I would have given 5 stars.

The folks who own the place are very polite and friendly and helpful. They keep the rooms and exterior very clean and comfortable. A great place to stay for a weekend or longer. Rooms have comfortable beds, microwaves and refrigerators Highly recommend for a good stay.

I slept here because it was the cheapest place in the whole area between Holland and North if Silver Lake. On the price ($65/nt +tax during the summer) this place is unbeatable. Of course the quality goes accordingly with the price so you can't expect much. The room was okay apart the strong smoke smell. The bathroom was small, and we can say it didn't make me feel very comfortable in using it. The room also had a small kitchen that I didn't use. The owner is friendly and gave me a double at the same price of a single (I was traveling alone). This place is good for a night or two if you're on a budget

This is a very basic 17-room "budget" motel -- nothing fancy and a you had to fiddle a bit with the shower to get the temperature right. Yet the beds were large and very comfortable, the room was spacious and clean, the wifi worked well, and the heater was very effective in cold weather. ||||We booked this place mainly for the kitchenette, so that we could cook and eat at the hotel, yet we were disappointed to find that it wasn't very functional. It contained a mini fridge (which froze our food even when on low), a microwave and a sink but no kettle for coffee/tea nor any utensils, plates, cups or even a sponge for washing up -- so pretty useless for trying to cook or even eat there.||||In any case, the owner, Sunny, is a very friendly and helpful guy who made us feel at home. And he seemed to care about the feedback we left, so hopefully the few little glitches will be addressed. He charged us $65/night plus 11% tax for a room with 2 beds (both double or queen), though after comparing with prices at Travel Lodge or equivalent rooms, I'd say you should negotiate down a bit from that.
