Northland Motel - Featured Reviews (21)
For a no frills motel, the accomodations wouldn't make you believe it. A special shout out to housekeeper Pam, she seems to be a single woman show (at least from what I've seen) but she keeps the rooms cleaner than some higher tier hotels I've stayed at that are more sufficiently staffed. Also worth nothing she is very personable and knowledgeable and a gem to the Northland motel. Other then that the rates are reasonable as are the accomodations. If you're looking for an inexpensive place to rest your head in state college that will surpass your expectations, look no further
We stayed there several times over the last few weeks, since our daughter and her family live 2 blocks away. The motel is in the same building with a bowling alley. There is no issue with any noise penetrating into the motel. The motel "desk" is the desk in the bowing alley where you pay for bowling and rent your shoes. The desk persons we encountered could use some people skill training (like smile, welcome me, ask me if we enjoyed our stay, thank me for my business). We've never stayed in a motel without an iron and an ironing board...until this one. We really needed one. The desk person and the maintenance person searched high and low for one, but could not find one. I emailed the manager, who stated that in the 8 years she's managed the place, they've never had any irons (although I could swear the last time we stayed there, they did have one). The motel would do well to have several irons and ironing boards, at least at the desk. The room was very clean, albeit on the small side. It had a microwave and refrigerator. The Internet had decent speed and the cell phones worked fine. Car parked right outside the door. Quiet. No breakfast. Also, there is no maid service except to change out the towels and wash cloths (if you put the "maid service" sign on the door when you leave. We didn't mind though. We don't have made service at home, so no big deal. And we only slept there at night. We make the trip through there regularly and we'll stay there again without a doubt. Can't beat the price. But next time we will bring our traveling iron!
Good basic room, clean and the beds were fine. Seems like some of the bathroom fixtures have been recently upgraded. It is a little odd checking in at the bowling ally but whatever... The rooms are not right next to the street so there is not a lot of street noise.
This motel is attached to a bar/band venue and bowling alley. My husband and I went to the bar to see one of our favorite bands and decided to reserve a room rather than make the 40 minute drive home afterwards. The room was no frills and clean. It was inexpensive and fine for a post nightlife one night stay. We had a mini fridge, microwave & 2 double beds. It seemed to be newly remodeled. Only concern was deadbolt on door didn't work.
I stayed at Northland Motel on the Saturday night of Arts Festival weekend, 2015. I got to the property early, about 11am. The motel front desk was the bowling alley counter. I was told that the room wasn't ready yet, and they charged my card at that time. Since the room wasn't available, I went downtown to the Arts Fest. I got back to the motel about 11pm, to get my room key. ||||I was going to stop in the pub there for something to eat. When I go close to the door, I saw two guys, one visibly intoxicated, and the other trying to talk him out of whatever issue they had had inside. They settled the issue, and went back inside. I decided against going in. Walking around the corner to get my bags, I saw that 2 or 3 rooms on each floor had the doors open, and the guests sitting outside, on benches and the floor, drinking.||||Finally getting into my room, I went to use a towel, and the towel rack immediately fell apart. I went to call the front desk, but no one picked up. At that point, I noticed that the room clock wasn't working. It had been unplugged, but it didn't work once I plugged it in.||||Trying to go to sleep, I noticed that 3 of the 4 pillow cases were dirty, in one way or another. But I was tired enough, and I went to sleep. ||||It wasn't until the morning that I noticed the toilet, pictured here. That got me to looking around, where I also saw the dried red residue near the fridge, also pictured. Getting no answer on the room phone, I called the motel on my own phone. I finally got through to someone who told me that the housekeeping staff was new, and that their work had not been checked. I was told to talk with the owner, but because I didn't let them know sooner, they weren't going to do anything for me. And the owner wasn't available anyway.||||At that point, I just wanted to leave, so we settled that. I tried calling the property to talk with the owner-four attempts over three days, and I spoke (politely) to someone each time, leaving a brief message with my name and phone number. In one call, I was told that Sabrina was the owner. In another call, Frank was the owner, before I was finally told that Frank and Sabrina co-owned the property. As of this writing, a week after checking out and five days after my last message for the owner(s), I've not heard back from anyone.
Inexpensive for what you get, everything is close by, including entertainment.
Got clean towels..thats it...empty creamer containers n trash on counter still. Came back to our room after working 14 hours n went pee n flushed n toilet overflowed. People who work at the attached bowling alley not even at the hotel brought up the plunger. Said he ...maintenance. ..said to give this to you. Unbelievable...people who stay here..live here are the ones who brought me extra pillows because the ones we had were flaaaaat. Not happy..then went to give keys and no one in office. Plunge my own toilet twice.
Place is on par with some Motel 6 locations. Room was clean, bathroom is OK and there's cable TV. Sheets are thin, pillows are plain and blankets are blah. No Wi-Fi or vending machines. Somewhat shady people staying there. Yet, when most places are charging $100+, $45 for a night isn't too bad. Just needed a place to sleep, not to live. Office is inside the bowling alley. LOL
As a weightlifter, traveling can make it difficult to find a gym. Mostly because some gyms wonât accommodate drop ins who do their own program. But CrossFit Nittany went above and beyond that standard. They made it easy for me to come and do my thi
So full of flavor and absolutely delicious!! The taco flight is such a great idea. Lots of yummy unique flavors. The quesadillas and multiple homemade salsas are also so good. Owner and employees were all great. Can't wait to go back and try more!
