Pleasantly surprised of the freshness and tastiness of all the sashimi and yakitori dishes ordered. We ordered different sashimi (raw shrimp, black sea bream, chu-toro, uni, or-toro), oysters, unagi, and yakitori (beef tongue, chicken wings& chicken gizzards).
Service was quick and orders were accurate. We'll be back!
One of the best sushi spot in San Gabriel, service is excellent, fresh fish. I was there for a lunch Omakase 13 course, can't ask more for the price that comes with the food and service.
Attended a friends party there! Great atmosphere and staff were attentive to coordinate with us with the schedules we had prior food. However, when the food came, the timing was perfect. There were over 50 of us, and everyone got our food within 10 minutes. The chirashi bowl I had was delightful with many varieties, portion is big and fish are fresh! I love my steamed egg as there was drunken crab meat in my every single bite... it was delicious! I would definitely go there again for just dining
Very cozy and wonderful atmosphere.
We had a great time at this restaurant food was delicious and very beautiful presentation.
Thank you everyone who made this evening special.
Service was excellent ❤️
Excellent service, delightful food, nice presentation! Would highly recommend.
My sister and I walked in without a reservation and were escorted to a table after just a moment. Host and wait staff were nice and friendly. Our drink orders were taken as soon as we were seated. Specials and regular items have their separate menus. Salmon carpaccio was lightly seared with a soy mustard dressing, not my favorite, Black Dragon roll had a good sized eel lying atop of 8 pieces of sushi, yummy. Paper lanterns and Japanese art set a nice decor to the pleasant atmosphere.
I haven't been here in decades. It's changed owners that time, but this latest iteration ain't bad. Excellent customer service. Tried their Monkey Brains and Gizzard skewer. The Monkey Brains (not real monkey Brains, you racist!) we're an interesting concoction. The chicken gizzard skewer was seasoned just right, and not overcooked --had the right amount of feedback on the outer layer, with enough juiciness within. Although for the price, couldn't you have thrown in 1 more skewer?
No. 1 Kazoku isn't that great. I have tried most Japanese restaurants in SGV and Little Tokyo. This place also used to be another restaurant selling the same cuisine many years back, but sold to new owners more than a decade ago.
Firstly, the food is expensive for what it is. I once spent almost $100 here just trying a few dishes out. Could have gotten full for cheaper elsewhere. I think they buy their sashimi from Yama Seafood. Might as well go over there instead.
The ambiance is great, but I was disappointed that their food just falls short of expectations.
They only serve oysters at dinnertime.
I would just come back for is the salmon skin salad. Even then, portions are too small and pricy.

The San Gabriel Cemetery is a special place run by a wonderful team. They provided excellent assistance coordinating my mother's intimate graveside service. Thank you again Lucas and Jake.
