Their gross incompetence at this office is at an alarming level. I received an email from a debt collector (NRA) which for me is not normal and it stated it was for Nixa utilities. I’ve always been on time with my payments. My bill never shows anything outstanding so for me, I assumed it was spam or fraud. Another week goes by and I get another email from national recovery agency (NRA)
This definitely raised a red flag for me so I called Nixa utilities and inquired about it. I was met with a very rude and dismissive woman who didn’t care one bit that this bill was from a YEAR AND HALF AGO!!! She acted as if they do this kind of thing all the time to people. Somehow they screwed up the billing and I apparently owed $37 but was NEVER EVER once told by anyone from Nixa utilities that I owed any money. It was never added to my bill. I was never called nor ever contacted in anyway by anyone from Nixa utilities to let me know this was going on. So, after being a loyal customer to this place for over EIGHT YEARS they don’t even have the decency in their accounting department to call me and tell me that they made a mistake?!?! They just automatically send it to debt collection?! Which can definitely have negative impacts on my credit. Is that something they care about? No, absolutely not. The gal on the phone in their office couldn’t understand why I was so frustrated that they did that to me. If anyone had done that to them, they would not like it either. We’re not talking about just a couple of weeks or a couple of months. We are talking about gross incompetence for over A YEAR AND A HALF LATER!!! if these people would do it to a loyal customer, imagine what they do to people that actually owe them money.
Yikes. Worst utilities company I've ever used. The billing / payment options are atrocious and far from user-friendly. Good luck trying to get ahold of anyone if you try to call the office (even if it's first thing in the morning, somehow no one is available). I'm not sure how a City company is allowed to be so terrible. Do better for your people!
If the word incompetent was a group of people, it would be the Nixa utilities group. I’ve lived here for two months now, BOTH months the utilities have been payed early or on time, and both months I’ve woken up to a notice on my door stating that they cut the utilities due to balance errors, so now two months in a row they have had to come out to turn my power on after wrongfully turning it off, I don’t think there’s anyone to switch to in the city of Nixa, so how about some accountability? How about the manager holds these horrible workers accountable for their actions? And if not a manager, how about we as a city, because with all due respect, these people suck.
Been living in nixa now since June and still have not received a utility bill or statement. Went into the office and had to pay my first month there and told me I would have a statement with my pin number so I can access online billing. That was in July. Still nothing haven't received anything. I don't know what I'm paying or how to pay, the trash service is literally garbage. They show up whenever they feel like it and don't notify anyone if they are a day late or early or aren't coming at all. This I by far the most disfunctional unorganized utility company I have ever had the displeasure of having to deal with and I've lived all over the country. Get your act together and fire whoever the heck is in charge because they are not doing their job.
The worst utility I have ever had the misfortune of being forced to use. In the first 12 months I’ve had 2 incorrect bills with random double charges. Had to add auto pay information 3 times, still unsure why it was disappearing each month, and have paid late charges now due to them changing the due dates on bills for no particular reason whatsoever. I have used 6 different utilities and worked in two and can confidently say Nixa Utilities has provided the worst experience.
They didn't tell me the difference between auto-pay by debit/credit and auto-pay by checking account is the $1.25 charge for using debit/credit. They don't charge for using your checking account.
They are much nicer and in person than they are on the phone.
Supervisor Deanna has never been rude with me.
Also, to prevent surprise charges and cut-off threats, full explanations would be a good business practice. In person AND over the phone.
Very frustrating...
I got home to a disconnect notice on my door saying that I hadn't paid my bill and now I owe almost $300 for the bill and fees. I never received a bill in the mail, an email notification (which I am opted in for), or a phone call. Now since I work late and got home after they close the answering service informs me that I will have to “deal with it until the office reopens around 8:30 am”. Terrible service and truly disappointed in how this was handled.
Called yesterday and spoke to the gal and she told me to come by today with the deposit check, so I did. She then denied speaking to me until I showed them the call record showing I spoke to someone for 4 minutes. The address they have listed is Incorrect, and the gal at the counter was very rude. She at first tried to say I didn’t put in the application, even when I had proof on the email they sent to me stating the application was submitted then she was mad that it was done at 10 pm when I was off work. Very crazy cowering wand I hope nobody has to go through that.
