Nielsen’s was recommended to me by some locals and it didn’t disappoint. I’m by no means an ice cream connoisseur but I enjoyed their concretes and felt that it met the expectations of a classic shake shack. I can’t speak for the parking or the inside because we went through the drive thru, but the staff was polite and pretty quick to get us our ice cream.

It was just a bunch of teenagers hanging out on their phones serving ice cream after 5 PM that just came out of a machine. It has become an overpriced self serve ice cream location that we will not be going back to. On top of it the heater didn't even work so what we wanted to be a date night turned out to be an experience we won't do again. I'm sad right this review because we used to absolutely love this place.

So disappointed! It tasted like old whipped cream. I have had delicious custard many times in my life and this was not custard. Supermarket ice cream is much better. Employees were unsupervised teens who struggled to know who was supposed to make the order. Kitchen was pretty filthy. We were the only customers in there and now I know why. Even my kids (ages 6 and 12) agreed the ice cream wasn't worth eating. We ate a few bites and threw it out. Why can't I find quality food in this area? ***I felt so bad for my kids we headed straight to the Soda Crazy Italian ice place a few blocks away. It was delicious. The custard tasted rich and sweet like it's supposed to! Also the place smelled sweet and was very clean. The employees were well trained and polite. Go to Soda Crazy Italian Ice instead of Nielsen's!

I don't want to admit to the number of times I've been to Nielsen's for a concrete. I grew up in Davis County. I've eaten at five different locations. Last night, my wife and I needed a break from the 100°F temperatures and headed over for some frozen custard. My wife ordered a concrete with the flavor of the day (they have vanilla and chocolate plus one additional flavor each day), raspberry, with brownie. I got chocolate with Oreos. We ate out at the picnic tables as the sun set. The concretes were perfect. The staff was friendly and quick. I'm sure we'll be back soon.

We stopped by Nielsen’s one evening to pick up some shakes for the family. The service was fast. The staff was friendly. And the shakes (I think they’re called Concrete) were absolutely amazing! We will definitely be going back more often. Thanks for the delicious treat!

Sorry, but really yucky. 🤢 The hamburgers and grinders were honestly disgusting (microwaved hamburger patty, warm slimy turkey meat next to avocado paste). We love the Nielsen's in North Salt Lake, but we won't be eating at this location again.

We always love going to Nielsen's for a treat. A young man named Lucas who works there is always friendly to us and takes great pride in making great treats.
