Newport Chalet Navy Hotel - Featured Reviews (227)
I have stayed here for 5 months. About room, sometimes it has some bugs reported by my friends but I have never been in that case. Bathroom is fine but don’t let water out of the tube cuz it might be leaked down to the room below. Fire sensor in the kitchen is quite dump, water from faucet sometimes is dirty. However, the staff were polite and helpful. The location is near by the Gym and Commissary. Generally, Navy Chalet is a good place, especially saves my memories in Newport. I still miss it and remember the last day I slept there.
The staff/ cleaning crew are more than polite. This place is just old. The shower head/wand was broken when I checked in. Toilete is loose on the floor and ready to break. Sink drains sometimes. Smell of years and years of LDO accademy end of course hangouts. The beds are between a elementary school gym mat and a navy rack, pillows are feather from a few decades ago.
The Susse Chalet has closed. Visitors to the Newport Naval Station can stay at either the Navy Lodge or the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites (NGIS).
Room is adequate as I have been here for a month. The staff is top notch and extremely friendly. The rooms leave a little to be desired. The towels often come back brown and the elevator has been down several times since we arrived. Other than those two minor complaints this stay has been pretty decent.
I had an overall positive experience here. I asked for an early check in to accommodate my very busy schedule on the base and, to my surprise, they agreed to that. And they kept their promise -- I checked in early with no issues. The staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly. The room itself was clean and comfortable.
The facilities are kind of old but the staff more than make up for it. They are super helpful and regularly go out of their way to help
This is my favorite Navy Chalet in the Fleet. The rooms are cleaned daily, the staff is incredibly friendly....especially housekeeping and the front desk. The location is very convenient as it is very close to the main gate. For me, it is the most convenient possible location as it is right across the (walking) Bridge from the Naval Justice School, where I'm an instructor.
The view at the bridge & water near the hotel is the best part of this place. Everything else was fine. It was nice to have a fridge & microwave in the room. As others mentioned, it could definitely use some updating/improving
Stayed here for our 1 night getaway to Newport. We stayed in the Cottage room and it was nicely private, clean and spacious. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff were are very pleasant and hospitable. The location makes you feel like youâr
