Great place to visit. You need to call Newman's bakery to make an appointment, and there is only one tour a day at 1030 am. The road to the castle is a little rough at the end, but if you take it slow you will be fine. The castle is very cool, built by a man with a dream. After a short introduction you can walk around and check each room, tower and torture chamber on your own. Some places require claiming the ladder, which makes exploring the castle even more exciting. Lunch is provided, sandwiches, donuts, cookies, cake and tea or water to drink. There is a short walk around the castle to enjoy the views from all the angles. A visit is definitely worth the 20 $ admission.

This place was a fun jaunt from NW Houston area, and is a gorgeous property, tucked away from the rest of the world. You have to call and reserve tickets through the Newman’s Bakery located in Belleville, which is also the place you have to stop by and pick up your wristbands for the visit, as they don’t accept payments of any kind at the castle. Jeff, the gentleman who introduces the castle to you is very jovial and engaging. My two kids (11 & 8), had a good time once we got inside the grounds. As a note, dress for the weather, as most of what you are seeing is outside (we went in winter and it was 35 degrees, but summer would definitely be a warm trip). Parking is no problem, but you do drive about 1/2 mile along a country driveway (pot holes!), so just keep that in mind. There are 13 dragons to find throughout the castle tour (helping to keep younger ones engaged)…and there is a large tree branch strung up in the courtyard that can be “battled” against with the provided wooden “swords” to help break up the time for the younger ones. The owner actually lives on property, and provides cookies, sandwiches and tea/water refreshments at the end of your tour. All in all, we stayed about an hour, and everyone had a good time! I don’t know that it would be worth a multi hour drive, but if you are in Houston/Austin area for a visit and are looking for something off the beaten pathway to do, I definitely recommend it!!

Visited on a Friday, arrived at the bakery by 10:15AM in town for a delicious breakfast and coffee (not included) and picked up our wrist bands ($20 p/person). Received directions to the castle 10 minutes away and were told to get there by 11AM. Arrived to a presentation of the history of the castle and what it has to offer, then they allow you to roam free as you please on your own. Beautiful photo ops all throughout and fantastic friendly staff. Lunch is served (Turkey or Ham sandwiches with water or unsweetened tea) along with all kinds of treats from the bakery which it was all delicious. Had a really great time and the trip to a small town is well worth it.

Great castle to visit. Kids will love it. Also good place to take some beautiful pictures. We booked 2 days in advance, you should drive to bakery location first and buy the ticket. They will provide you with blue wrest band. Each ticket is for 20$. Once done u need to drive all the way to castle it’s 3 miles only from bakery. parking was available next to the castle. Once the tour is done you can go to the pantry and have lunch. You have option to choose between turkey or ham sandwich (drinks and donuts were also available). This was included with the tickets. The tour guy was so friendly and funny. He did explain us everything about the castle and the king ! 🤴 P.s the turkey sandwich was so tasty ! 😋. Highly recommended and it’s only an hour drive from houston. Press like if u find this review is helpful:)

I have no idea why this castle doesn't pop up when searching "things to do nearby", but I'm so happy I happened to stumble upon it. $20 per person includes a walk through with a quirky tour guide, unlimited access to castle after your tour and a sack lunch (deli sandwich, donut, chips, cookies, water and tea). It was pouring down rain, but we still had access to all areas of the castle except the trail that goes around the pond. Definitely recommend if you're looking for something a little different than the hustle and bustle.

Had a great day here. The full tour with the history takes about an hour. Lunch was a simple turkey or Ham sandwich but it was delicious. Kind staff worth driving few hours to visit Place is perfect for all ages. Can bring your kids or have a lovely date walking around a beautiful castle and lake. Great place to take Pictures. While I was there either even what looked wedding pictures. It's that beautiful there. And dont mind the king in the castle he is mostly just sleeping. I would recommend climbing all the sit to the top to get a wonderful view of the surrounding trees. It is a straight climb up a ladder so some people may find is difficult but the 7 year old infornt was able to do so.

Newman's castle was a nice little excursion with a great back story. It was inexpensive, enjoyable, and generally just a nice place to visit. There are a lot of picture taking opportunities. To add to this already cool excursion, lunch and bakery items are included in the admission. The only drawback was the tickets have to be bought at the owner's bakery ten minutes away. That was kind of a pain ..but the bakery had some great breads and pastries to enjoy. So it worked out in the end.

This was a great experience!! Loved the tour! We started off at the bakery where you get the directions to the castle, we used the paper instead of GPS to make it feel like a scavenger type. The castle is hidden and not visible from the main road. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the Kings assistant. He was a great character. They let you roam around the castle and ate able to take unlimited photos and videos. Please be prepared as there is lots of climbing. There is plenty to explore that doesn't require climbing. We got to enjoy the tour with 2 Bus loads of senior citizens and they had a ball! The categories of the castle consist of a torcher chamber, king and queens dinning area, chapel, bell tower, guest rooms, the living area, kitchen, and the area where the King lives(the owener) before they allowed us to roam around they talked about the history of the castle and how it came to be about. Pretty interesting! Once you tour or whenever you'd like, there is a very lovely lady serving lunch. They prepared a ham or turkey sandwich with chips, tea or water, cookies and cake. The bread is freshly made in the bakery along with cookies and cake which were delicious by the way!! We had to stop at the bakery to bring some back home! I highly recommend this experience to all. Definitely will be making another trip to Bellvill to take our family.
