We attended the annual ghost walk put on by the New Bern historical society and it was great! The actors did a great job of sharing history and also adding in a little spookiness. This is definitely a family friendly event. The only negatives we experienced were that the tickets are for the full weekend (giving you time to get to each stop since it’s almost impossible to do it all in one night), but you can’t revisit any of the stops more than once. I don’t think that’s really truly a “ticket good for the whole weekend” if this is the case. Also, it would be helpful, if possible to have more volunteers in major intersections offering directions bc some of the downtown streets are a bit confusing, even with a map. Overall it was fun and we would do it again!
It was such an enjoyable experience being able to tour around this area via foot. Best to run around the in the morning!
Hardworking, dedicated group that is doing a tremendous job in New Bern. Great self-guided walking tours are available free. The anniversary exhibit is not to be missed!
Great organization that puts on some pretty fun activities for the community.
All events are top notch. I was a volunteer in a few homes during Spring Homes Tour, Ghost Walk & Kitchen Tours. Wear soft soled shoes to protect beautiful floors in the spectacular historical homes & buildings. Enjoy!
Come here and learn that history is alive and well and living in New Bern. From the brilliant eccentrics to the explorers they have all inhabited this little city. And, of course, Washington slept here! The New Bern Historical Society has the stories and information to guide you through people, places, palaces, and battles of New Bern.
Great experience in an adventure through time. The personalities involved in the modern expressions of history echo all that is special of New Bern's rich languages, cultures and histories.
Admin offices of the Historical Society located in a historical house built circa 1794. Some museum rooms to view with artifacts from Battle of New Bern and former owners of the house. Admission free. Donations welcomed.

We recently spent a long weekend here with our two daughters. The Jarvis is really a beautiful B&B, but what really makes this place special is Michael and Denise. They could not have been more hospitable. Everything was top Notch. Thank you two for
WOW!! My wife and I have stayed in B&Bs for over 40 years now. We have enjoyed our time in almost all of them. But Hanna House is unique. The Innkeeper is outstanding, the rooms and common areas are perfectly decorated, and breakfast is gourmet! If
Amazing experience here, especially for first timers. I was especially apprehensive, but George taught our group how to throw and was extremely kind and helpful, giving advice to help us stay safe while enjoying our hour throwing session. The back a
Wonderful little coffee shop with a pleasant and helpful owner. I got the apple caramel latte and a pumpkin spice cake bite. Both are superb and tasty. The atmosphere was welcoming and cozy, the owner was also the batista I believe and she was so kin
This is a food truck that our Family had not tried before. We were surprised by the size of the sandwiches and the kids meal they have. You will not go wrong, the food and the tots are worth every penny. The owner is so nice and will explain the food
Walked the area trails. I was there in late Fall. The trails, decks and bridges are in excellent condition. Based on the number of signs warming about tick borne disease, you may want to stay on the cleared trails in season.
This is a cute shop with a wide selection of items, from clothing to poly furniture to souvenirs. Although a bit pricey compared to some of the other shops, I really appreciate the craftsmanship of the items here and found my favorite New Bern logo
Some of the best food Iâve ever had in my life! Iâm so used to eating here every weekend, Iâm already craving it when I wake up on Fridays! Some of my best plates are the pot roast or the WINGS! Everything is always so good, hot and fresh. Cons
