Walk in and enjoy a friendly and funny welcome! They have the oldest coverlets you’re gonna find and literally the largest collection anywhere! Calm and special, it’s a place to check out for sure. Come and appreciate the craftsmanship and history this museum has to offer!
Great experience! An exhibition narrative that follows the year the fabric was produced combined with a chronology of American events that year is a great idea.
Such an incredible display of amazing vintage coverlets. Who knows such a gem is in Bedford! We were in Bedford to dine in Bedford Springs when we drove by this old school. Out of curiosity, we popped in and so glad we did. We were given a great history and background of these coverlets by a old gentleman who runs the museum . The location itself in a 1859 school is so great. Very impressive collections. Not to be missed if you are in the area.
You never know what you will get with oddball independent museums. I am a fan of the genre and generally willing to give them a go, but this is with the knowledge that they might be great, they might be terrible, or more likely they will be somewhere in between. I was genuinely impressed by this one. I have no particular interest in the subject, but they do a terrific job. They have a large space to display not only the coverlets themselves but looms and other textile equipment. A loom capable of this sort of work is a technological marvel that is well worth a close inspection. Recommended not merely for historical textile buffs, but for anyone who can imagine being interested in it.
Wonderful museum, spacious and lit beautifully. Really enjoyed seeing the numerous coverlets and reading descriptions of each. Really well done and worth a visit. You may even have an opportunity to purchase an antique coverlet in the gift shop!
What a great little museum. I had no idea there was such a rich history. The museum owner gave us a great overview and he was a wealth of good information and I feel a bit smarter about American history. I recommend a visit next time you are in town.
Never knew what a cover was, when they came into existence in this country or that there were two different types. It was most! It's also a nonprofit so if you know anybody that loves coverlets a donation makes a great gift for any occasion!
I waited outside with the dog while my travelling companion took a tour of the museum. Her reaction was that the exhibits were fantastic and fascinating. The vollinteers at the museum were extremely knowledgeable about the coverlets and willing to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the art. My companion is a quilter and throughly enjoyed the museum. Highly recommended if you have any interest in this unique art and worth traveling to visit.

If you love history, you have to visit the Okd Bedford Village. This place is amazing! An amazing effort put into bringing historic buildings to life (while saving them from destruction from time). Different time periods are represented, but there ar
Great campground for the family! Has plenty of sites here. Most all of them are fairly well apart. Stopped here on our way to CO and it was right off the highway. You can hear the highway at night but it's not too loud. The pond there is great for fi
Simply amazing. This is a gem. We will go out of our way to eat lunch here while driving through Pennsylvania. The food was utterly delicious and so reasonably priced. We had the Hawaiian poke bowl, truffle toasted cheese, and lavender lemonade. All
This was a last minute trip on December 25/26 and was the most amazing place I have stayed. The attention to detail in every area of the hotel was amazing. Lots of places to sit, relax and enjoy. Restaurants were fabulous and all the staff were great
Our neighbors and my wife and I drove down to Bedford PA (30 minutes) to enjoy lunch together on the shortest day of the year. It was wonderful. The wives had salads, the guys did burgers. I enjoyed a surf and turf burger that included a crab cake
Had a fantastic stay at Hampton Inn, Bedford! The staff was exceptionally friendly, making me feel right at home. The cleanliness of the rooms is top-notch, and the location is super convenient, just minutes from the main highways. Highly recommend f
Excellent. VERY well maintained rooms: although they're of old design, they still feel almost brand new. Everything works well, everything smells good. The pet rooms have tile instead of carpet, which is excellent: dogs are happy and comfortable. Q
