Awesome place to learn about some of the local animals and habitats. The center itself is relatively small but take some time to explore the surrounding trails. Make your way to the water and you'll find a quiet beautiful beach to sit back, relax and enjoy the sun.
Our most visited beach. It's always pretty calm even when the winds are whipping up waves on the ocean side. Nice trails for walking. The nature center itself is also great fun for kids on a rainy day. Fun collection of local animals.
Very beautiful! I lived nearby and never got to explore here!
A very nice place to go and learn about the animals and nature that exists in South Florida, especially for kids. The volunteers and rangers are very friendly and knowledgeable. The trails are nice, albeit short, and the beach is awesome.
We loved this wildlife refuge! The visitor center has several live animals…we particularly enjoyed watching the volunteer feed the little skunk some hamburger! Great place for kids; staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The short nature trail is very unique-definitely worth the time!
There is so much to see here! I can’t wait till the construction is over and to go in the new nature center. For now, enjoy the magical stairs down to the water. Or… walk around the nature center to a trail truly remarkable. A sand pine scrub community and one of the last publicly-owned sand pine scrub communities in the world. You can only find sand pine scrub habitats in Florida and parts of Alabama. At certain points of the trail I could see the Indian River Lagoon. After you make your way through the scrub trail, you can head down a canopy lined path to the beach, a dead end trail to the water, or back to the nature center. This is a really special place and worth a visit! Remember your bug spray, I wish I would have and bring plenty of water. Enjoy!
My family and I have taken a couple of their educational classes and thoroughly enjoyed the programming options. The facility host local animals and is very informative. The staff are engaging and knowledgeable. It also has great trails. It has a great gift shop as well.
Smaller than alot of other nature centers we've been too but the staff is what makes it good. They were super friendly and present with you, offering to take animals out for the touching for the kids. They also offer different events at certain times. Apparently a great place to go fishing if you're up for that.
