Nakon Motel - Motel in Candler - 1233 Smokey Park Hwy, USA

Just odd, and somewhat unprofessional, experience. Was told it was $69 plus tax, for one night, but they couldn’t take my card, so… I was told to “just go get cash!” So I get 80 from the ATM, which I got no change from, and no receipt for. And THEN she decides to inform me of a $20 fee.. TO GET THE DANG KEY TO THE ROOM!! 😑Like what the.. But she said it would be refunded when we checked out and returned the key. However, while checking out, she inappropriately runs off down to our room for an inconvenient and kinda-awkward “inspection” of our room.. which, of course, she finds a reason to not refund me my $20.. which, remember, was for the KEY, but all of a sudden now I’m being told some of it was NOT being refunded, due to one of our DIRTY TOWELS being DIRTY!! IMAGINE THAT, FINDING A FREAKING DIRTY TOWEL AMONG THE DIRTY TOWELS!!! Ugh like I just KNEW, when she took that 20, for the “key deposit,” that I wouldn’t be getting it back. Long story short, this place is just robbing people, cause they don’t get any business, due to their rooms being so ugly and outdated! No wonder we were only the third guest in the whole place! Never again! I’d rather stay at Red Roof, which is now overrun with trashy people getting to stay there for free, thanks to Homeward Bound putting them up. 🤦🏻‍♀️This whole town is just a mess, as far as the hotel industry goes. Ugh sorry, rant over.

My Husband and I stayed for the weekend, checked in on a Friday and checked out on Sunday morning. When we went in the room there was a full-sized refrigerator, which is a plus! However, it had not been plugged in and took until checkout to get cold enough to keep things in it cool. Other than the microwave and dust covered coffee pot, that's the only appliances you get, no toiletries, hair dryer, or lock box. When inspecting the beds before sleeping there was hair stuck on the pillows and sheets like they hadn't been cleaned. The box spring looked like someone had threw up on the side of the bed and not properly cleaned up. There was what looked like black grease stains on the covers, which I understand that stuff is hard to get out. But, when paying as much as we did, I expect the linens to at least appear clean. The mattress and pillows were hard as rocks. We asked for clean towels and wash cloths and were still not given enough for two people. The towels we did have didn't appear to be clean either. The water had to run for almost 30 mins before getting warm enough to shower. There were handprints in black all along the bathroom walls and doors. The towel bar in the bathroom was almost falling off the wall. When getting ice, the bucket was sticky, so when I handed him the bucket to fill, I asked for a liner in the ice bucket, when he returned with the ice it looked like he just rinsed the bucket and filled it with ice, Needless to say, we didn't use the ice. The weather was the perfect temperature to hang out in the room with the door open to see the view. However, it made me uncomfortable that while our door was open the guy running the place stuck his head in our room. The dead bolt to our door didn't work, so for additional security measures we propped one of the chairs against the doorknob. It was not the best experience, but it was in our price range, available for the days we needed a place to stay, close enough to our destination, and a warm place to lay down at night and shower. The garden outside is a lovely touch to making it look nicer. Also, the view is really something if you get a chance to watch the sun rise over the mountains.

Disgusting. We were desperate or we would have left. Nothing else available in the area. Dirty and incredibly badly-equipped. Full of junk furniture. The premises were badly kept and had junk lying around. One of the blankets was dirty and stained (didn't use it). Extremely shabby all around. The owner or operator was a jerk; you have to register through a (dirty) plexiglass window. And SO OVERPRICED. Avoid at all costs.

Great mattress! Older hotel. VERY affordable. Clean, big fridge with separate freezer, has microwave and coffee in room. Large TV. Carpeting on floor. Nice landscaping.

This was a decent room for the price, my only complaint is I had to ask for clean towels because the ones in my room when I got there were stained. Stayed 2 nights, the room was comfortable, bug free, warm heat, and quiet. The owner was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if I was in the area.

I agree with all the one-star reviews. My family stayed there a few years ago, and it seems that nothing has improved. The worst thing was that a man was verbally abusing a woman and child in the next room. I wish I had called the authorities.||We were overcharged. The beds were soft and saggy. The AC unit was located in the bathroom rather than in the main room. The bathroom exhaust fan did not work. What repairs had been done were done poorly. There was no phone book (which is one reason I did not call the sheriff). NEVER AGAIN!

This place was nasty and filthy. The pillows where so hard. Musty carpets. Crap in the closet. The man asked in the morning how was it. When I told him it was dirty and smelled gross. He replied ..well its the last one like it's too bad. The room needs a major overhaul. We sprayed Lysol on the beds and used our own towels. Wasted good money.....don't stay!!

This by far was the WORST place I have ever stayed.. Drove up should have warned me but I kept an open mind. Room smelled like cigarettes and Lysol. Lights didn't all work. Bed had stains on the mattress and pillows cases were not changed. Door didn't lock with deadbolt just the handle. Walls were dirty, furniture was worn and in poor shape. Window in the bathroom had a note written on the frame "ples dont open". There was no fan in the bathroom. The shower was funny, when you get in the floor sunk about a inch. The hot water lasted 3 minutes! My shower consisted of a camping shower, on 1 sec to get wet, off to wash up, on for a sec in cold water to rinse.. Wallpaper was ripped. I have a bite on my back. Ice machine was broken and the soda Pepsi machine long ago died.. Never, under any circumstance, stay here. We were stuck due to being there on vacation on a Saturday night and no vacancy anywhere.
