A cozy space with exhibits that change periodically. I spotted SOLD signs on several pieces so evidently it functions as a gallery too. Free parking in the Macy's lot and easy to find on the 3rd floor of Macy's. A small gift shop is also attached.
What a beautiful collection. I spent most of my time educating myself on the talented African Americans of mine and my father's time. I appreciate all the information delicately spread amongst the museum. I'm going to be honest most of them I have never heard of. Never got a mention in any art class I have ever taken, which is quite sad that AA are a separate subject in art world. We are all Americas and should be given an equal plain when speaking about the benefits and contributions to art. Thank you all whom donated art and allowed us to view your private collections. I felt I was transformed into a whole new world of emotion. God bless. You will love the MAAA. Please make time to visit with free admission I plan to come and enjoy a few times throughout the summer.
Gift shop only open. Fabulous ladies in the gift shop. 3 stars for great convo and beautiful gift shop collectibles. Exhibit is closed til Nov. 2 2019.
Definitely a place to put on your bucket list! The staff and their hospitality was phenomenal. I had fun and took a few complimentary stickers to go!
What a hidden gem inside of the mall. Always wonderful exhibits and a great store for African and African American art, jewelry, apparel and memorabilia. There is an event hall in the rear that can easily hold 200+ people. I hosted a few events there and they were always great. The acoustics are a bit challenging and sometimes there's a loud and constant humming sound from the AC. Just use a very high quality and loud PA system. Ample space for catering and vendor tables. Support this fantastic venue!
I just recently went here on my first visit to LA. This AA museum was exhibiting John Henry's work. This was an inspiration piece of work... I'm glad I was able to see this on my vacation. However the cashier who was there was an older black lady and she was very rude... It's about 445 and she's like I don't mean to be rude but we're closing in 10 minutes and I need you to hurry up and bring your stuff to the register so I can cash you out... I said I'm using a debit card... She said still we're closing and I need you to come cash out... So I was going to put my stuff back and walk out but I remembered I was supporting the cause not her. So I bought my stuff and left. If you work in customer service you are required to be courteous even when it's the end of the day... In spite of that I would still recommend everyone to go see this exhibit and I forgive this woman for her rudeness... Admission is free...
I have been enjoying the art and culture presented at this museum for many years. Right now a wonderful exhibition of beautiful Artistic and creative photography by John Simmons is on display. Each photograph is a world of truth and meaning unto itself and yet each image complements and enhances the other photographic works being exhibited. This exhibit ends on March 29, 2020. Don't miss it. John Simmons is a master at capturing the perfect moment that tells an essential story in one picture.
This museum is located in Macy's on the third floor. There are no signs to guide you, so be sure to ask a Macy's associate for guidance. The staff at the museum are wonderful people who are excited to provide knowledgeable information about the museum. I also had the opportunity to meet John Simmons, A.S.C., who has beautiful work. 💜💜💜 this place!

We visited the gallery on Sunday, which offered free admission. However, on weekdays and Saturdays, the ticket price is $9. It is indeed a wonderful gallery to admire contemporary art, and the artist store is also a delightful addition to explore.

Valentina and Helen are absolutely wonderful trainers. They always go out of their way to help everybody out: always giving adjustments to improve posture and performance. I always book a session when one of them is there. They also play great music.
My time at this gym has been nothing short of exceptional! I recently hit my 1 year anniversary and am proud to be a member of CrossFit Echo Park. At first I was hesitant about joining CrossFit in general due to thinking it was just a bunch of rugged
