We stopped in after hearing about the hot hamburger from friends and we were not disappointed. The only thing better than the food was the service! We also tried the coconut cream pie and the chocolate pie. They were both good but we preferred the chocolate… it was very chocolaty!!
Came for the nostalgia and stayed for the hot hamburger. I used to come here with my dad years ago so it was nice to revisit it and know the food was just as good! We take our kids to woolaroc every year for the holiday lights, this year we stopped for some good food too. We tried chili cheese fries, jalapeño poppers, regular hamburger, hot hamburgers and steak. It was all delicious and cooked perfectly. We even had leftovers. The staff was so friendly and helpful even though our party spilled over into 2 tables. We had a great time and will come back if we're ever in the area.
We visited for the first time on a Saturday night, and we'll definitely be back. We had to wait a few minutes for a seat, but the staff was great about getting vacated spots cleared quickly. We ate at the counter right in front of the window, so had a front row seat to the fast-paced kitchen and service.
I had the open faced hot beef sandwich with onions, and it was delicious. Couldn't eat it all, but enjoyed the plate full of gravy regardless.
My companion had the bacon cheeseburger, and said he wishes they served breakfast just so he could enjoy more of that bacon!
The restaurant isn't spacious, and was loud, but honestly it added to the charm. My only negative comment would be that I wish there were more bathrooms (one each for men and women), as there were several waiting to use the ladies room. Also, the bathroom hall is very narrow; another patron was using a walker, and getting into the restroom was a challenge.
You seat yourself at the first available table when you go in. There is tons of parking. The diner atmosphere is fun. Our server was friendly and said we would put the house sauce on everything and we did just that. My husband and father in law ordered the hot steak open sandwich and I ordered the mushroom burger and fries. It was very good sized portions and we enjoyed every bite.
You guys definitely out did yourselves again for dinner. A month ago when we came we both had the juiciest burgers ever along with apple cobbler which was amazing. Tonight my husband had a burger which he loves and said was very juice. I had the gumbo shrimp and fries which was amazing. So much good I have lunch tomorrow. We also splurged on dessert so we can sample them all. We got chocolate pie, coconut cream pie, lemon meringue pie & pecan pie. Every bite was absolutely amazing. My all time favorite is pecan and lemon. You won’t go wrong ordering anything from here and you won’t be disappointed in the desserts either. 10 plus stars!
The waitress was awesome. She even took our picture. Great food, definitely worth an almost hour drive.
Gravy over all is really all you have to know when ordering from this local favorite. The Hot Hamburger is a one of a kind creation that you have to try when coming here. I know they have other things on the menu, but I haven’t ever tried anything else, the hhb is that good. Is it healthy, no, and who cares. If you want a great memory, full belly and that comfort food experience, then get the Hot Hamburger with gravy over all, you won’t regret it. As a side note, the garlic salad dressing is out of this world great, order the dressing and a side of lettuce :)
Our first time here, and definitely not the last. Everything has that home cooking quality. Food, Service, Desserts are all good. It's the honor system here when it comes to seating. Wait in the lobby until a booth, table, or dining counter open up, and then you go have a seat and enjoy the experience. That sauce is something that will have you putting on everything, your meal, your dessert, your grits, your lotion, your problems, ect. My wife and I had a blast there and in the car, rooty-tooty.
