Our bartender was cold, unsmiling and unfriendly overall. Although we did see that he is capable of good service if he knows the customers. Asked him the WiFi password - typical question for a hotel/bar, and he claimed he did not know, nor took any effort to find out. We needed WiFi to get our maps to work, as we were on a road trip down to Visalia from Tahoe, and after visiting the Old Corner Saloon in Copperopolis, had been told it was worth it to backtrack to this historical bar. Our bartender at Old Corner Saloon was so nice & informative, maybe he set the bar high. He had at least quadruple the number of customers than the bartender at Murphy’s yet he found no reason to be brief or rude. It was a huge disappointment once we got to Murphy’s Historical Hotel’s bar, and we felt we were inconveniencing our bartender, who had only 2 other groups of 2, and it was pretty dead. He was very curt & cold. Personality & graciousness counts in this business. If you like historical bars, skip this one- you won’t find out a single interesting detail & you will get bare bones service. Not worth the detour. It was a bald, heavy set, older male bartender.
On 8/19/24 we stayed at the Historic Murphy’s Hotel. We stayed in the annex, an older motel that they remodeled. The room was nicely appointed with a comfy king bed. A very good value. We enjoyed an outstanding dinner outside on the patio. Great service, great drink, great food. Plus they have a kitty if you enjoyed cats like I do. A great stay and we will return!
I've never had the pleasure of staying here, but I help myself to the delicious cocktails and refreshing beers. When you're done with wine tasting and some local shopping come enjoy a cooling drink here. Plus they offer food as well. I've yet to try the food as well but the service and area is a nice place to chill from the streets of Murphy's.
This is a beautiful historical place with so much rich history that needs to be preserved. Beautiful area, beautiful place and something that everybody should visit. Don't waste your money on this place unless maybe you're getting a drink at the bar, and while you're there make sure to tell the owner to stop drinking because he was the worst part of this whole whole entire place. Maybe you should spend more time being an owner instead of replying to reviews in a snarky way, and partying in the saloon, which still is extremely loud, which is something that has been going on for years and years so if you want to sleep, don't come here!
I think they should have Ramsey to do an update visitation to see what he thinks honestly because as a outsiders suggestion, better quality sometimes is going to make changes from what Ramsey did for you guys change the living room into red? Well last time it was pink, but he made it blue way better to make a stand out. You should’ve left that blue. In my opinion the red looks overwhelming, a little suggestion may be red and blue you want the place feel more comfortable looking from the pics say a lot but I bet the food taste better hopefully 🤞 I hope #ChefRamsey visits you guys asap good luck
Very disappointed in the service I received. I went in for a drink on a weekday when there were only 2 other groups. Bartender was not even close to busy, yet he was rude & cold. He acted like we were an annoyance to his day. He was bald, stocky and older. He didn’t greet us, never smiled, ignored me as I tried to ask him a question and later, we saw that he isn’t incapable of being friendly, as he acted very friendly to regulars. When we asked for the WiFi password so we could get directions to our hotel a few hours south, he said he didn’t know it, and made no effort to find out for us. This was pretty shocking, after the friendly bartender we experienced that actually recommended us drive the 30 min to it from Copperopolis. That bartender had treated us so friendly, told us historical tidbits about the bar and had made our day. We wanted to continue visiting historical bars, but trust & believe, you won’t find out a thing from the bartender at Murphy’s. Customers seem to be an inconvenience to them. Later, when I stopped elsewhere for gas in the town, I mentioned my bad experience to other locals & was told this bartender is snooty, and his name is Kenny. Not 100% sure this is accurate, but all I can say is, SKIP the stop. It’s not worth the effort to go to this 2 star hotel & get treated like this. Hopefully, he learns customers are his bread & butter.
I didn’t stay at the hotel, since I was on a road trip heading to Reno, but I hope to stay here someday. Overall the location is great and the receptionist and employees were courteous and excellent. I ended up buying a few shirts and whiskey from the gift store and checked out the bar which seemed great! I hope to be back soon and I’m really glad I finally got the chance to see this amazing historic hotel!
If I could give zero stars for the restaurant, I would!!! I have been coming to this restaurant. Gordon Ramsey revamped it, and I had always loved it until my most recent visit. The restaurant staff is the worst staff I've ever had. Lifeless, no energy, and no manners. Just waiting for a soda and a water took our waitress 20mins, and when the soda came, it was nasty. No syrup or carbonation at all. We didn't mention it, and my husband just drank his water instead. Then it took 45mins just to get our appetizer of toasted bread and stuffed mushrooms. They're usually our favorite, but this time, they tasted off. We just took out the stuffing and ate the mushrooms and left the bread because it was burned. Now, mind you, it was early, and the restaurant was pretty empty. I finally asked a different waitress about the soda, and she said she'd get a different one. We were sitting right where the servers came out, and it took her less than a minute. Needless to say, she didn't do anything and just refilled it with fresh ice. After our wait for the appetizer, it took an additional 30 more mins for our entrees. My Ruben sandwich was ok, but the fries were soggy and cold and had no body to them. Now, my husband's fish and chips were the final straw. He couldn't even break the fried fish in half. We literally had to show the waitress that he couldn't even press his thumbs into the rubbery fish. It was like a fried sponge. When explaining the issue, our server had an "I don't care" attitude and said she would take the meal off, but didn't understand the issue with the soda and refused to offer a different meal. I've never walked out of a restaurant ever, but we did this time. An hour and a half wasted while we were hungry and had horrendous service. We will never be coming back here again. Sad after 14 years of coming, they've ruined it.
Very spacious room although a bit old and heater a bit dated. We got a suit with a living room and one bed room, easily could sleep 5 for prices that are just 1 queen bed else where. The service is good and very accommodating. Location good, right n
We loved everything ordered. Beer is always great. The food even better. Didnât get a photo of the plates we had for lunch but will come back and try more options.
The cave itself is really interesting. Good pacing in the tour even though it's quite a ways down a 160 feet, the the gift shop is friendly and easy to navigate. The outside area has lots of shaded areas when you're waiting for the tour to start or j
I recently took the two hour drive from the Rocklin area to see Patti La Belle and Gladys Knight at the Ironstone Amphitheatre. We purchased reserved seats. Great view of the stage. And for those who would rather watch their live performance with an
Love the GF crust. Half salads nice and big. Delicious pinnacle beer. Wonderful outdoorsy setting with view of the street. We came for the Firewood Pizza but plan on exploring the cute town with lots of wineryâs.
