I was not able to go to the ranch trail, I just follow the main row and it took me to an amazing view. You can even keep going from where I was. It was a two hours hike. Easy and peaceful. You only have to be careful with the bikers and snakes!
Reading some of the reviews some were accurate, and some not so much. First there is no parking at the trailhead so be sure to park on the street. No worries about break-ins here as its in a nice neighborhood. Youll see a locked gate in front of you at the trailhead that will say the trail is closed, just make your way to the right and youll find an overgrown road beyond a yellow gate, covered in graffiti, really just follow the graffiti an youll know youre going the right way! About a quarter mile or so on the path there is a dirt path with some small metal trail type markers,it will be the first real offshoot you see. If you follow this path its a bit more shaded and does lead right to the ranch! If you feel youre lost open google maps and take a peek, the ranch is marked on the map! Theres multiple ways to be able to get to the ranch, a stairwell leads down to the watertank a ways further down the road, easy to see from the main graffiti roadway. Going down to the ranch that way will take you down stairs...and more stairs...and more stairs and just when you think youre done MORE STAIRS! Its quite a bit of work but its a really unique area and worth the trip! Bring plenty of water,a snack and be sure to wear sunscreen. The path isnt very well shaded! I would certainly do this hike again! Really only took us about 2 hours total with lots of stopping time to explore. Also know you cant go inside the main ranch building itself, its completely welded off with metal, you can get inside the water tank though! Happy hiking
Great place for a good hike within the city limits. Access/drive to trailhead can get tricky and slightly confusing if you are new to the vicinity. Trail starts off in a residential neighborhood with a gravely road.
Nice Trail, Easy for hiking. Horse farm at the base of the trail. Great views of Santa Monica and the ocean in some locations.
Cool place with lots of hidden photographic scenes. Short and not to strenuous walk. Stairs are steep but also quite fun. Many of the buildings are falling apart. Not much parking at the trail head.
Nice and easy trail with some good views. There is paid parking at Murphy Ranch or parking on the street outside the main gate.
Very amazing trail. You need to find a parking place before you reach the trail. There you face with 500 steps and they lead you to the ranch. If you know the history of ranch that says the ranch made for Nazis who were waiting for the Nazis from Germany to come to the USA you will enjoy more. I believe the graphite that shows kind of vandalism are completely match with the history. So enjoy your hiking.
Straight hiking baby!! Yardy know!! Bring plenty of water (and some snacks if you're willing to carry some weight) and come early in the morning; make sure you have an idea of where you're going too. For a first time hiker, it's potentially daunting because of the urban vibe that comes off from the place, but there's multiple paths you can follow, and it doesn't hurt to come with others. As always, be aware of your surroundings. Good luck out there babes!!!

This trail is challenging to me but Iâm glad I made it as in a full loop. It is wise to hike counterclockwise as youâll get more shades when climbing up the mountain. As you start, the woody area made you felt you were in a forest and youâll ge
Beautiful sunny day at the beach on a Friday. The windows were so clean we did not need to sit on the quite packed patio. Wish I could give an extra star for the excellent service. The food was hot, tasty and delivered quickly.
