Hands down EXCELLENT. It was our first visit, and we were not disappointed! What a gem of a place! Our wait to get a table was about an hour, we did arrive around 6 pm on a Saturday so the wait was expected. Bar service and table service were both outstanding. The Murph's team was so busy, but all of the staff hustled to make sure every customer was being taken care of. Our dinner was amazing. Fresh, delicious pasta!! I wanted to order everything on the menu! Prices were also very reasonable. I can't wait to get back to Murph's!!

hyperbole is far too common nowadays but Murph's is high key the BEST Italian food I've ever eaten in America 🤤 the master mind is a chef from northern Italy and the pasta gave most meals I've had in Italy a run for their money. for apps we ordered meatballs and arancini, for entrees the ragu 2x, amatriciana, and tomato vodka cavatelli with sausage – every 👏🏽 single 👏🏽 dish 👏🏽 was an absolute HEAT SEEKING MISSILE of flavor exploding in my mouth 😩 food was so yum we ravaged it far quicker than the camera could keep up. and don't forget to mop up all the left over sauce with their delicious bread! of note they are cash only and make sure to make a reservation at least one day before by messaging them on IG (@murphsbar). there's a cozy heated patio out back to compliment the dive bar aesthetic in front where we ascended thanks to peak heavenly pasta flavors. 10/10 would recommend

Almost all their entrees are under $20! The food menu at this Italian/Irish restaurant is not only delicious but very affordable. Portions are large and filling, dessert was huge. They do not take reservations and they are cash only, recommend hanging out by the bar to get a seat. As other reviews mention, it is a small space but very worth the wait!

I think there were some hits and misses with the dishes here, but in general it's good. I probably wouldn't wait longer than 30 minutes, as you cannot reserve, to eat here, also, it is cash only and they have an ATM on site. It's quite tight inside. We got the Meatballs, Stuffed Gnocchi (here was the primary miss, it was quite tart, and only tasted of cherry tomatoes, I did add a fair amount of salt), Murph's Pasta, and the Seafood Manicotti (which was the best option we got). I will add the disclosure that I find it is difficult to find good or outstanding Italian food in Philadelphia, but this one is a better option than say Giuseppe & Sons, cheaper as well.

Bartender is awesome. It was packed and he never stopped moving and somehow my husband and I never had to wait for service. The meatballs are *chefs kiss* with fresh ricotta cheese served with them as well as fresh basil and a basket of bread..And the other food looked AMAZING but we were just popping in for a quick app and a couple of beers! The locals love this place and we're so happy we stopped in during our weekend visit!

Have a 5 star meal in a local bar. Kevin gave us great service. I had leg of lamb that was as good as it gets. My husband had a perfect pasta meal. Even the cocktails are top notch. Can’t wait to go back.

Would’ve been a 4 but had a service issue. So we started with the fried Burrata and meatballs as appetizers. The burrata was good but was a tad cold when it arrived. Meatballs were VERY good. For entrees we went with the Garganelli w/ Sausage (pasta in a blush sauce with sausage & some kick) and Tagliatelle w/ Filet (pasta in a cream sauce with Truffle oil and Filet medallions) Both VERY good. After our dinner … that’s where the service issue occurred. Before closing out our tab, we ordered 2 desserts, Creme brulee cheesecake and the Lemon marscapone cake. The order was taken and our bill was paid and then we sat and waited literally 30 mins+ for our dessert. We never saw our original server again, and had to stop other staff members on 2 occasions to remind them of the outstanding food. I’ve never waited so long to be served … even at the real fancy restaurants where they want to draw out the experience. So basically after the bill was paid, they forgot about us. We finally just asked that they give us the desserts to go. Which they finally did. We got out of there and ate them at home, & again both really good. I chalk the delay up to a Saturday night and they were just bizz. But seriously, anyone would've been annoyed. So in conclusion, yes, the food is very good. Best Italian in the city? Not sure about that, but it’s probably up there and the prices are beyond reasonable. Good old school Fishtown bar vibe with good food. Some drawbacks = Cash only, tight seating and good luck with parking. The area is bumping and you have to find street parking which is tough. But give it a shot.

I've been to Murph's a few times, and I've never been disappointed. The menu is small but well-curated, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. The pasta dishes are my favorite, and the pear and cheese fiocchi is my go-to. The pasta is perfectly cooked, and the sauce is rich and flavorful. The pears add a touch of sweetness, and the cheese makes it all come together. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they really know their stuff. They're happy to make recommendations, and they're always willing to answer any questions you have. Things to keep in mind The restaurant is small, so it can be crowded at times. The restaurant is cash only.
