Mr. Chen's Authentic Chinese Restaurant - Chinese restaurant in Jackson - 5465 Interstate 55 North Frontage Rd, USA

The service is good, and the food is ok. I ordered steamed dumplings and twice cooked pork. I would not call those two dishes authentic. I lived in Sichuan for years and never knew the twice cooked pork can be like that. The steamed dumplings are like those bought from Costco, even though the waiter claimed they made the dumplings. Maybe other options could be authentic. But those two that I ordered are not authentic at all.

Mr. Chen's has been a favorite of mine for more than a decade. It's nice to be able to go get quality Chinese food with having to suffer the after regrets of overeating at a buffet. Having been to southeast Asia a couple of times, the market portion is very authentic and resembles what you can find in some Asian cities. I love being able to find some of the southeast Asian treats I like so close to home.

Such a fun little business here in the outskirts of Jackson Mississippi. Husband and I passed it on Highway 55 into town. After we checked into a hotel, I decided to grab some food and hit up Google Maps for a food place. Mr. Chen’s had a good amount of high star ratings. I am glad I stopped. They had some original dishes and put cilantro in much of their food faire, which we love. 😋. We got Garlic Pork Belly and Pork Green Beans, both excellently flavored with a slight zip of heat. The portions are large. Everything was fresh. The restaurant area was clean, with a place to sit and customers can look at Chinese cooking and serving-ware in the stire while food is prepped.

Salty lunch specials but meats were well tenderized. The place was still under renovation but it looks like it will be a classy restaurant when finished.

So glad Mr. Chen's has reopened their restaurant with expanded & renovated dine-in experience. Very nice! I've missed it!

The General Tsao chicken was the best I've ever had, and the rice is very good too. Sorry, I started eating before taking a photo because I was hungry! Giant portions!

Good was good. Service was good for us. The atmosphere was marred by a table that had bad service and got lots and angry, but was otherwise fine and my good company made it fun anyway. I am not an eater of a wide variety of foods so it's a challenge for me to pick something I will like. I had sesame chicken and it was great.

This has been a hidden gem of places to find diverse foods. I love shopping here mainly because of the variety of items suited for tea, fruit, and vegetable lovers. The renovation has definitely 😁 made me smile. My only issue is that I can no longer go towards the fish section because of my allergies. Nonetheless I have a great time there and suggest that others come see all that they have to offer.
