I recently had the misfortune of dining at this restaurant that left me with a bitter taste, both literally and metaphorically. The establishment, Mr. Chen’s Authentic Chinese Cooking, had been recommended to me by a friend who had raved about their fried rice and roast duck. However, my experience was far from the culinary delight I had been promised. The fried rice, a staple in any respectable Asian cuisine, was a disaster. It was bland, under-seasoned, and lacked the characteristic smoky flavor that one expects from a well-prepared fried rice. It was as if the chef had forgotten the basic principles of cooking fried rice. The roast duck, which I had been eagerly anticipating, was another disappointment. Instead of the crispy skin and succulent meat that one associates with a well-roasted duck, what I got was a dish that was more akin to a baked duck. The skin was rubbery and lacked the delightful crunch, while the meat was dry and lacked flavor. The accompanying sauce which was only soy sauce, did little to salvage the dish, as it was overly sweet and failed to complement the duck. In conclusion, this restaurant was a letdown. The fried rice was a disaster, the roast duck was more like a baked duck, and the service was lackluster. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a satisfying dining experience. It's a shame, as I had high hopes for this place, but it seems they have lost their way in the kitchen.

Stopped in here for to go lunch to head back to work with and I must say...I am extremely disappointed.....that I HAD NOT TRIED THEM EARLIER. by far in all my 30+ years of Chinese food the best General Tsos ever. And when they say spicy? They mean spicy. I can handle my spicy but lordy this was so painfully good. Hot, fresh and decently priced and portioned. I will be back!!!!

This place is in a strip mall in a sketchy part of town but it is worth the trip! I asked the ladies at the counter to pick something authentic for me, and boy they picked well. I don't know what it's called but it had shrimp, cabbage, bell peppers, onions, and spicy black bean paste. Super rich and yummy! The sweetness of the shrimp and bell peppers offset the spiciness of the bean paste, and the cabbage gave a very nice texture. Well done! Definitely going back again. Photo is below; I ordered it takeout.

Great little dimond in the rough! Very good all fresh! Definitely recommend the pan fried pork dumplings!! Ate all 8 almost by myself. The pineapple shrimp is great if you have a sweet tooth and is excellent. The veggie combination is definitely different with the sauce but still good if you want to try something different. It is a little off the highway but definitely worth it!! Don’t be fooled about the Chinese market the restaurant is inside.

Great place to eat and shop. Shrimp actually tastes like shrimp...not bland like in other places. Suspect appetizers are reheated from freezer, but main courses tasty. Has a great wet market of live fish and crabs. Lots of selection for dry goods.

We arrived at Mr.Chen’s Authentic Chinese Cuisine in hopes of authentic Chinese food as the name implies, but this was far from it. I ordered the curry shredded chicken and combination lo mein noodles, neither of which had much distinct flavor. The noodles were overcooked making them soggy/slimy and the chicken was chunky instead of being shredded, both dishes tasted more like soy sauce than anything else. I would choose another restaurant to satisfy your Chinese food needs.

Probably the most authentic Chinese cuisine one will find in Little Rock, or even Arkansas. Yes, they have your typical “American” Chinese dishes but also quite a few authentic. Also one of the only places that I know that has Hot Pot! Great thing to share with a group. The soup dumplings are some of the best that I have ever had. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to try something different, try this place. It’s been here a long time for a reason.

We really enjoyed the food at Mr Chen’s last night. I had probably the best Bok Choy and Black Mushrooms I’ve ever had. The Beef Broccoli and Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was quite good. However the Sesame Chicken had way to much batter on it and overtook the chicken inside. Service was good and frequent and I will be back again when in town.
