Mount Vernon Inn - Motel in Sumter - 2 Broad St, USA

This place is absolutely disgusting!! If I could give it negative stars I would. My husband stayed here for work and the floor is nasty, the sheets were stained and the bathtub was gross! The mini fridge was rusty and had mold. The room also smelled like mildew and smoke. The front desk lady was extremely rude and no help at all. Please stay away from this place. It's a health hazard!

I have seen post apocalyptic movies which look brighter than this place. I woke up with a kiss from a cockroach on my pillow in the morning. So I forced myself to believe that the blood stain on one of the pillows I've seen the night before belonged to one of the members of this lovely creature's society. Neighbors are so lovely and friendly that they stand in front of your door and smoke (not a conventional cigarette of course) all night long while chatting loudly, so you don't feel lonely. The evening I checked in I had decided to keep my room door open to let the smell of marijuana go out (which I don't particularly enjoy) and to make the process faster I've decided to open a window from somewhere at the back of the room, which I found that my only option was the toilet (try to remember the first 'Saw' movie to have an idea how it looks like) window, where I have instantly given up after seeing the stashed 'grass' in a nylon bag and prayed for the rest of the night that the owner of that stash would not knock my door to claim his product. I have decided to keep my natural fluids inside just like a cat on a ride after this little toilet adventure until the first rest area the next morning on i95. Oh man, you have no idea what mankind is capable of until you have to! Actually I had decided to sleep in my rental car both for my and the car's safety, but after hearing those lovely neighbors I have mentioned earlier were talking about me as 'the white guy' I felt safer behind the locked door. Ok, I've already lost all of my life energy after remembering that sweet night to keep going on with this review and decided to stop here. Basically I ran away from that place without looking back after checking out the next morning. My only excuse to stop in Sumter was that I was too tired after driving all day long and couldn't feel like making another 40 miles to the Myrtle Beach, and this mistake turned out as one of the biggest I did in my so far 47 years old life. (Of course that is after buying a Samsung Galaxy S3 in 2013) Feeling lazy to read the whole thing: STAY AWAY from there for the sake of God!

Nasty room. Nasty bed. No towels. No washcloths. No paper towels. The room I had was 60 bucks....good for a few hours, that's about it.

This place is disgusting . Smells like mold bad. This is the worst hotel my husband has ever stayed in. The shower was disgusting, under sink had a huge hole in it with mold around it. The floors were so gross!!! The sheets had long hairs on it !! The microwave was so rusty and so was the fridge. The ac unit had black stuff on it , probley black mold , and rust, lots of it. There's a no refund on the website for a reason people. They wouldn't give him his money bk. He slept on top of the blankets with all of his clothes and shoes on , that's how gross it was !! If it would let me post pics , I would actually post them. People hanging around outside. People fighting. People DO NOT STAY HERE. This place should be shut down and condemned !!!

This Inn was a family favorite when we visit Sumter. To my surprise it is now run down, with outdated dusty rooms. The bathroom tub and walls were moldy and dingy, unusable. The toilet was dirty with water ring and ran all night, had to keep jiggling the handle. The rooms needs painting and cleaning and newer furniture. Bed was comfortable and fridge worked, my room was ok at best . The clerk at front desk was unpleasant. Not the same since under new management! Will never return, surrounding felt unsafe! BEWARE OF NEW POLICY...NO REFUND ON ANYTHING...SO you sign before even seeing what u rented!

So me and my wife and kids rented a room for a week here and while I was out running a few errands the hotel owner and some other guy knocks on the door and when my wife opens the door he says they have a high water bill and need to check the toilet. Suspicious right well it gets better when she says that she's not comfortable letting them in and asks can they wait till I had come back from running errands which shouldn't be too long he starts yelling at her to the point she was crying and says if she doesn't let them in she can get out that this is his hotel and he's coming in so understandably my wife is scared and allowed them in she grabs the kids and sat on the bed and called me so i race back to the hotel and when i get there they had already left so i went downstairs and spoke with the manager whom didnt seem to understand what his boss did wrong but wanting to speak for him only to be told the next day that we would not be allowed on the property after our stay ended even though we had planned to stay a few more weeks being that it's the only affordable place for weekly rates in the area and the hotel manager said specifically that this was because my wife was uncomfortable allowing strangers in the room with my family while her husband was out so take from this what you will but these people have no respect for there customers sense of safety privacy or anything mind you all the drug dealing that goes on in the parking lot and so on and so forth that's fine not attention drawn there but a woman alone in a room with her kid that doesn't feel comfortable allowing two strange men in the room while her husband is away is cause to ban them from the property

Worst experience ever 😪 didn't have towels toilets backed up an rooms got roaches in them
