Mount Jefferson State Natural Area - State park in West Jefferson - 1481 Mt Jefferson Rd, USA

It is one of the most beautiful places I have visited. It's on top of the hill. It's quite windy. View of mountain ranges from here is best. There are sunrise and sunset points here. I have watched from Sunset here. It's fast. Since there are mountain ranges in the line of sunset, the sunset here happens a few minutes before the actual sunset. Fall colors are beautiful. There are many viewpoints for it. Area is quite big. Vehicles can go up to quite a high point. There is a picnic area which is semi-closed. From there are walking trails. I wish to visit again when it's not that windy to explore the park.

A wonderful state park with hiking trails that are moderately difficult, with many wildflowers, and vista of Blue Ridge along the way. Even more lovely in Fall!

Nice and easy 1 mile hike we took with my 2 7-year-olds and my 65 year old dad. Beautiful overlook at Luther Rock. It gets steep but just stay on the trail and you’ll be fine. Took us a little over an hour.

We went up here Saturday night to see the sunset while we were still in town and it was a very beautiful overlook. We just stayed in the parking area, but there is also a trail you can hike to another overlook. We were impressed that you can even see Grandfather Mountain in the distance, which was cool for us because we were just there the day before! Very romantic spot. Free to get into!

Beautiful views from the overlooks and hiking trails. The Rhododendron and Lost Province trails run along the Ridgeline of Mt. Jefferson.

I am so glad we made the drive to this park from Blowing Rock. West Jefferson had lots of great shops and restaurants in a picturesque downtown and we capped off the day with some hiking here. The views were wonderful and the hikes were perfect for a family but not too easy. There are several trails you can choose from as you climb the mountain and hit each overlook point.
