Motel6 Putnam - Hotel in Putnam - 5 Heritage Rd, USA

I stayed here for awhile it was peaceful the owners were nice handle any problems in a timely manner. Fairly priced for weekly rates. House keeping was wonderful even though we did our own cleaning they always left fresh towels and toilet paper by the door and respected the do not disturb sign.

The hotel was very run down and the room wasn’t clean. It appeared clean at first but the bed sheets literally was dirty and covered in stains, and the pillow had what appeared to be spots of blood on it. I brought that to the woman at the counters attention who told me it couldn’t be true, they just did renovations. I showed her pictures and said I better not be charged for this, she just said oh, no you won’t. The inside looked very run down, and the walls in my bathroom were dirty. I feel like I should’ve been offered some money back.

Adequate at best. No coffee on the property. Someone knocked on my door, which did not have a chain or bar lock, 3 separate times during the night. I called the front desk to alert them and was told I, a single woman in the room, should be fine, it was raining out, I responded that meant it was probably someone staying in the hotel. If it happens again ( the knock on my door) i was going to call 911 and she told me don't do that. I hung up and luckily it did not happen again.

The reason for a 3 is; firstly, as a woman, there were no locks on the doors. No chain locks, no locks. Just an electric lock that can be activated by a card. That made me scared and hard to sleep for the first night. Would have felt more safe and settled if there were locks on the inside. Secondly, despite the fact I was staying for two nights, I got locked out the following morning and had to go back to the office to reactivate the pass card. The bathrooms were really small and not necessarily set up well. The shower was outstanding as someone who loves hot hot showers, same with the water pressure. It could have been the weather or the dip in location, but the TV didn't work very well. The maid service was very nice and quick to offer assistance. While others will love this, I'm not a pillow person so having super fluffy pillows was uncomfortable for me, I used a blanket I brought as I find weight necessary for comfortable sleep.

Older hotel so a bit worn. Clean. Great staff. Almost instantaneous hot water. Excellent refrigerator with its own freezer to re-freeze ice packs from my cooler. Slept like the proverbial baby. Lots of dog walking area. Would happily stay there again. Easy on and off I 395.

This place was shabby. The carpet had been removed from the room, there appears to have been flooding or water damage to the floor, the lighting was gloomy and industrial, and there was urine in the toilet when I arrived. The lobby worker was nice, but this motel is very run down. Only stay here if you have to.

Not incredible, not horrible. It definitely has some age but the owner seems to be working hard to renovate. Doors/Frames could use some upgrading as they are pretty thin or may not fully shut all the way so light came through the side. Room was clean. Could've used an extra plug or two by the desk area for my laptop. I had to unplug the coffee maker. Never had any of the breakfast. Shower was fine, water was hot. Again, an older place, but it's probably light years better than where it was.

Do not stay at this property unless you absolutely have to. Although it seems like it is part of America’s Best Value Inn which makes you feel like there will be some sort of cleanliness and standard hotel protocol; this hotel is independently owned and operated, and is associated with America’s Best Value Inn only through a franchise agreement only, which significantly limits their ability to impact the hotel operations. When complaining to the owner he claims that the hotel is the way that it is because “no one wants to work”. The customer suffers due to poor staffing. My shower curtain had mold, there were cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling, the property smells like cigarettes, the shower was visibly dirty and covered in pubic hair, the rooms has no deadbolts for added security and there were tiny bugs all over our room. I have felt itchy all over my body since leaving this property. I left a message with the Connecticut health department because this operation is simply not safe.
