Motel Baymont - Motel in Hagerstown - , USA

My other half and I have been so grateful to Liz and the entire staff at APM Suites. We've been displaced by our apartment building going ablaze and have found an extended stay that's affordable with a great team of caring people that give us a sense of security while we heal and work on starting over. APM is privately owned. The owners haven't dumped a lot of money into making it look like the Ritz, but there's Direct TV and comfortable beds to sleep. Liz and her team work as one functioning unit and even know the names of all of their hotel guests. Every single employee walks in here and hits the floor running. Guests see Liz come in, and she's lucky if 10 people aren't waiting in line to talk to her. She holds this place together, and she trained her staff to hold fort as solid as her in a very chaotic area. This isn't a vacation hotspot, it's more for travelers or people in transition like me, with competitive rates. Liz and the team get a 5. The owners you can tell aren't as committed. The rooms have dated furniture, there's no laundry room here for guests, and long term guests, some elderly and disabled, have to stand out front exposed to traffic fumes because the large space with the sun faded covered pool has obviously not been a priority for the owners. Putting up a secure fence around the pool, some potted plants, maybe some umbrella tables and a landscaped outside seating area would put some balance in to the place and provide street appeal. It seems like the owners feel an attractive lobby is good enough, and it's not . I do appreciate they're animal friendly - my cat loves the large rail along the windows that give you a large view of the city that looks pretty at night. The owners need to ramp up cleaning staff. While this team handles chaos with the smoothness of fine linen, the linens here are from the previous ownership and attention to detail of freshening rooms daily with a dedicated team is needed. Liz and her team do the best with the tools provided by ownership, which is limited. But you can see that everyone that works here does their best to ensure that your needs are met. The staff here is a well oiled machine. It could be a hotel of competitive if not higher quality than the others around. But one can't help but feel that the owners don't care about guest satisfaction or workload on staff. However, there's a great team in place that puts the effort and work in every day. I hope the owners are aware of how good they have it. Thanks Liz and everyone at APM for the excellent care and service while we continue to heal from our tragedy.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! You should get the hint when the door directly across from yours has a sign that reads "CONDEMNED". We were given a room that was FILTHY. The carpet had a spilled shake of some kind we had to step over. There was trash and debris all over the furniture. Burn holes on the beds with brown stained and ripped disgusting comforters! The baseboards were unattached and laying on the floor. BUT...the beds were clearly made with pillows fluffed and blankets tucked. We didn't even look in the bathroom. We were shocked to say the least. The best part was the "CONDEMNED" sign on the door of the room directly across from ours. We get assigned a different room without an apology or explanation. It seemed as if this was a common occurrence. Next room is not vacuumed but at least had an appearance of being straightened up. Microwave had no plate, and burnt food stuck to it. The TV was not even set up to the Direct TV and we had no phone to call the front desk. I literally got Comet to clean the bathtub for a shower and to wipe everything off. Never got the TV working and we're told there were no towels available. This room was a Christmas gift and did not want to seem ungrateful so we stayed. Oh..the police came to break up the group of people we saw out of our window hiding from the pouring rain. We noticed after hearing the blurting cop car directly below us. The condition of the Baymont was worse than any place I've ever seen. Even in the movies. In my opinion it should be completely torn down and probably not rebuilt. This happened in December-2023.
