Motel 6 San Marcos, TX - North - Motel in San Marcos - 1701 I-35, USA

Horrible. Switched us to 2 queens even though we had a reservation for 1 king because they said they “accidentally over booked.” The room smelt like smoke even though we reserved a smoke free room. No pillow cases - front desk said they were in the washer. The sheets had cigarette holes… The lights radiated heat waves, the bathroom floor had mold, no toilet paper holder and it was very very dirty - you can tell it was not vacuumed. We demanded a refund but they said they didn’t offer that so sent us to the Studio 6 across the street which was better.

Location was great for what I needed. However, my original reservation was for 3 nights, but the day of my check-in I added a night because Hurricane Beryl was originally heading towards my home location, so I didn't know if I needed an extra night. The day after check-in, I went out and left the TV on for my dogs so they wouldn't hear outside noise, upon returning the screen of the TV was black with sound coming out and absolutely NO WAY to turn it off. I went to the front desk to report it and CANCEL the added on night (hurricane had turned). The clerk said either her or the maintenance man would be up to take care of the TV...I waited until it was close to shift change and no one had come up yet. I went back down to the desk and the clerk said the maintenance man was "off for the night", but as soon as she finished shift change she would come up before leaving to take care of it. She never came up. I ended up going to sleep with the voices coming from the TV to finally wake to silence in the morning. I found the maintenance man the next day and had him unplug the TV as it had no manual power button. Upon checking out, I was told that the added on night would be refunded the next day when the manager got in, only to look at my bank account and see that 1/3 was refunded. When I called asking about it, I was told that they charge an early check-out fee and I argued that last night was not part of my original reservation, but was added the day of check-in and canceled the next day. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she was not there, but the clerk would have her call me back. However, as soon as I gave my name, she miraculously was right there and without any details was doing the refund (still not the full amount, but what's $5). This whole experience reminded why I stopped staying at Motel 6's, from the lack of customer care, allowing just anyone to park in disabled parking even though they don't have the tag/placard (I have mine), rooms not looking ANYTHING like how they appear on the website, misrepresenting what is available in the lobby as far as food/drink goes (there is a convenience store next door), there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room as advertised, to having to argue for money back, NOPE I'll take my money back to the HOTEL that I know I can trust.

This hotel has been a lifesaver. Waiting for my house to be ready I've had to stay here longer than expected. The office staff and cleaners have been great and accommodating, especially Brittany. The price is decent and it's pet friendly with no extra fees, which is great! I definitely recommend staying here if you are passing through and need a comfy bed and a place for your fur babies to enjoy.

Excellently placed and easy to locate. Rooms are very spacious and well kept. Isabel came in clutch at the check in making sure we stayed together with our party. Made things a heck of a lot easier when packing, unpacking, and planning.

Not as advertised; NO "Snack Bar/ Deli".... (There is a Shell gas station next door over, but anyway...) The bathroom door tells a sad story of being broken through, at least once; but no worries, thick gray monotone paint covers every inch and hinge to hide each scar. And I am only much too pleased to only use my own phone for any calls I may need to make, as the room phone is nothing but for decoration, and hiding the stickiness of the bedside table that has been left there only the maid would know how long.... The location of my room, well....ok, I wish there could be a functioning light outside my door, as it's an awful dark hallway, and just an odd layout overall....Perhaps, I am leaving my review now, in advance

Whether you need a place for the night or for a week, this place has you covered. Inexpensive comfort conveniently located between two gas stations with multiple restaurants just a few minutes away! Shout out to Brittany, Isabel, Daniel and Maria for their customer service, friendliness and for working diligently to ensure guests have a clean and comfortable experience!

Mrs. Brittany was very helpful and attentive to our needs the best she could ( busy weekend). Thank you Brittany for all your help. We appreciate all you did to help us be comfortable on out of town mini vacation
