How there has been any 5 star reviews for this place is beyond me! My wife and I stayed there last night. We were supposed to be there for 2 nights. Our first night we got in so late and just wanted to get some rest. That was nearly impossible. The bed was as hard as the floor and the pillows were hard and flat. There was a folded up WET towel by the sink with a bar of soap atop making you THINK it was a clean rag. But no….. when we grabbed it, it was wet and had a yellowish tint to it. So gross!!!! There were sticky spots on the floor, a broken power socket, a dingy bathtub, dirt piles up in the corners of the bathroom, the desk was disintegrating and just tacky looking and I could keep going. The website pictures portray something that you just don’t get! Office staff s was nice, but that’s all this place has going for it. I feel like I seriously need a tetanus shot after staying there. Oh, but wait….. there’s more!!! They moved us to another room after I contacted customer support, and that room had hair ALL over the bed, on the desk, facial shavings in the sink and food debris on the desk chair. By this point, we went BACK to the front desk and asked if we could be refunded for the second night and we went to Wyndham Inn in Monterey where we were NOT let down!!! Such a difference and needless to say, it was so nice and so comfortable that we stayed an extra night!!!

Air conditioner didn't work. Paid extra for a refrigerator, which didn't work. The front door & bathroom door didn't close properly. The room smelled like wet cigarettes, it was disgusting. The cleaniness of the room was sub par, it desperately needed a deep cleaning. No one slept under the covers of the bed and the beds themselves were old, lumpy and uncomfortable. Had to wait outside (no available chairs) of the check in office for 30+ minutes because they were in a "staff" meeting. I drove several hours & I clearly am disabled. This was just rude in my opinion. Less than 10 days later the motels on Kern were in the papers because of the arrest of sex trafficking. Beware & lock your doors, the area is "rough". The only good thing in the area was the freeway access, the In & Out Burger and McDonald's across the street. I addressed the issues with the check in staff at check out and was blown off. Such a shame that they do not live up to the typical motel 6.

Even tho it by many other motels n fast food places it's nice n quite. Nice choice of places to eat walking distance makes it much easier when you want something quick.

I must say, I've enjoyed staying at this location the last couple of weeks. The customer service is amazing, the rooms are clean and the freeway access is a plus. Would definitely recommend this Motel to anyone stopping by this beautiful city.

I prepaid my room but still took over 25 minutes to check in because the staff on duty wanted to charge/have me pay more. I had just driven for the last 12 hrs and just wanted to lay down and decompress; however, I refused to pay more. So, I pulled up my reservation/confirmation, handed them my phone, and after a few more minutes they finally figured it out (think they called someone). As for the room, I laughed when on the amenities page it said toilet paper was included with the room as i had never seen (or at least noticed it before)...then I found out why. The room was bare bones! The shower had only a curtain, no liner. So, the water was going everywhere onto the floor. There was no hair dryer, no iron or ironing board, and the beds only had sheets on them. Thankfully, there was a heater, but I was definitely surprised at what I encountered. Also, there was no microwave, which was odd to me as I read the rooms had them. The next day, I informed the staff about the lack of shower liner, and they said they'd send housekeeping to take a look at it. She came to the room like 30 minutes later, looked at the shower, and said she would send maintainence (never saw them and just dealt with the water making a mess). When I asked about a hair dryer, etc., I was told they didn't have them. Fine....what about the microwave? I was informed that if I wanted a room with a microwave, I'd have to pay more money and change rooms. Yeah....nope! When I drive to California, I usually stay at the other Motel 6 near the airport. I've been going there for years, and I've never had a problem. This location was booked by mistake as I didn't look at the address, just the name (honestly forgot, there were two Motel 6's in the area). So, when I realized my error a few days after when confirming my booking, it was too late to cancel, I figured it should be fine, and I'd have the same experience...nope! I admit I goofed with the location, but I expected the same quality and service I was accustomed to with this chain. After staying there for 3 nights, I guarantee this will NOT be a mistake I make twice.

We spent two nights here. Price is better than anything in Monterey where we attended a wedding. The room looked pretty good, my only critics is about the lack of a fridge. The water had a bad taste but thankfully there was a vending machine to buy water.

After staying a night I realized this location offers a military/veterans discount which I wasn’t aware of upon check in. Since I’m hitchhiking for a form of travel, every dollar matters. I asked the manager after checking out if they were able to refund the difference for the veterans discount. After showing my veterans affairs benefits card, he processed some paperwork and refunded me $10 directly to my hand, very very kind of this Motel 6 staff to display such care, empathy, and hospitality. Speak kind, respectful, and slow to them, and they will do their best to assist and empathize.

I loved the smoking rooms so I could vape. That's about it. The place is nice enough but you realize it's indeed a bit run down. Safe and hygienic. It just feels a bit rundown. No real complaints besides no continental breakfast.
