Motel 6 Saint Joseph, MO - Motel in St Joseph - 4021 Frederick Ave, USA

When we first arrived, the room they gave us was not cleaned yet, had piles of dirt on the floor. So we changed rooms. The new room had no towels, no microwave, the refrigerator didn't work. The air conditioner didn't have a guard on it. The bath tub was absolutely filthy. The floors were dirty, the walls were disgusting. If that's not enough, we saw a bed bug and at least 10 cockroaches. When we told them about it upon check out they tried to charge us $150.00 for a cup of ashes and cigarette butts. The cup of ashes was there because my son would go outside on the balcony and smoke, and instead of throwing his butts everywhere he politely put them in a cup for them to dispose of. He would leave the door open when he smoked so they accused us of the room smelling like smoke. So instead of addressing the issues with the disgusting room, they flip it back to US and try and charge our card. Then when my son told them about themselves, they call the police and ban us. As if we would ever return to that filthy, not fit for occupancy place. Take my advice and stay somewhere else, don't waste your money. 🤢 And we saw other people smoking on the property so they didn't say you couldn't smoke outside. Also the ice machine didn't work and vending machines didn't work or were empty. DONT STAY THERE 😶‍🌫️ also the cups they give you to drink out of had mold around the rim where you put your mouth... Absolutely disgusting place...

Been staying off and on for about a month now and since the management has changed its starting to becoming better and will end up becoming a nice, friendly, safe, and comfortable place to stay. They are currently working on the other building and updating it but once they are done with that one they'll redo the other one. I have faith that this place will end up being a wonderful place to stay. The front office staff, and house keeping staff are all so friendly. Patricia and Peter are both so wonderful and friendly, they always get a giant smile on their face when they see my 4 year old son coming up into the office. I will gladly come here to stay if not just for the friendly vibes.

The employees are very nice and welcoming. My only issue that I had in the almost month of staying is a hole in the ceiling above the tub that drips some kind of water on me. The water pressure isn't very good at all. But other than those couple things it was great staying

The only thing that was good about this hotel was that the beds were comfortable. Everything else was NOT worth the money that we paid. Pulling up to the property there are a couple of buildings that look like they used to be part of the hotel but isn't used anymore. The "outdoor poor" is closed for repairs. When we finally found the office, we went inside and the lady behind the counter was very nice. She gave us our keys and we pulled around the building. In our room, the window has no curtains, just a paper window covering that was taped up. The room is all linoleum. The bathroom smelled of old urine. The tub had stains in it, no drain plug, and the faucet was twisty on the wall. We checked the beds for bed bugs but didn't see any. The mattresses are old but they were comfortable. The last thing was the sink only had hot water. Leaving the property there always seemed to be people standing around in the parking lot which was kind of gave an an uneasy feeling. My son did find a razor blade in the parking lot. We tried to go to another hotel but everything was booked due to the Chiefs Training Camp. The location is very close to training camp if that's why you are visiting. There also was a gas station and donut shop within walking distance that was very good.

Positives: Location was good, TV worked and A/C worked. Negatives - Room appeared to be clean at first glimpse. However, there was a razor and shampoo in the bathtub from previous customer; the bed coverlet was stained; sheets also showed stains and there were dead bugs on the floor and between the sheets. Lots of people loitering in the parking lot. Office door was kept locked - so how safe is it really? Would not recommend staying here.

I booked this hotel online, I was taking my kids to the Chiefs training camp and knew that we would be arriving late and only needed a place to sleep. As soon as we arrived, I knew I had made a mistake. I’m pretty sure we witnessed a drug deal go down in the parking lot when we arrived.I decided against my better judgment to still check in. I checked in at the front desk and we left to go find someplace to eat. We returned to the hotel at approximately 9:30 PM, 30 minutes after checking in, and went to our room. The absolute horror of the room cannot even be described, which is why I have attached pictures. The air conditioning unit was in pieces and not working, there were fluids around the toilet in the bathroom, the bathroom door looked like it had been kicked in, there were various “stains” all over the comforters of both beds, the smoke detectors were off the wall, and in a dresser drawer, the floor was sticky to walk across, and there was a foul odor in the room. Also, the door would not securely lock. I went back to the front desk and before I could say anything, the attendant began laughing and said “no refunds you’re stuck“. I stated I would simply like a room change and tried to show her the pictures of the room, the attendant continued to laugh and said “no refunds, you’re stuck, not my problem.” I returned to the room and got my children and our belongings, and we left. There was no way I was taking a risk of our room being broken into, not taking a risk of laying on those dirty, disgusting beds, not to mention the fact that it was 80+ degrees in the room and no air conditioning. Do not, repeat, do not even entertain the thought of staying at this rundown, needs to be demolished, piece of poop hotel!

Peter is such a great manager! He’s so very helpful! he even give me his own discount! I’ve been in many hotels and motels but I’ve never met any hotel manager like him! Best hotel manager I’ve come across! Such a great and helpful guy! Thank you Peter!
