Motel 6 Rockford, IL - Motel in Rockford - 4850 E State St, USA

My first experience with no one at the counter, checking in or checking out. Everything is done through a kiosk via live feed from where I presume it’s halfway around the world not able to hear her instructions clearly at the speaker. New security deposit as of end of April of $35 not listed on website and was required to call back next day when funds were not sent back or original charge adjusted after checking out. Room itself was fine bed linen everything was OK just a little uneasy checking into a hotel not having some sort of live person knowing what exactly is going on at the location. I travel for work and I will be putting this location on my do not stay list for future travels to Northern Illinois because of the kiosk reason.

Started out with having to check into the hotel with a box. A kiosk, person from another country checking you in. The poor sound quality and heavy accent made understanding next to impossible. It would only take cash. No ice machines (3 missing, 1 out of order), my door didn’t lock without slamming multiple times from the outside, from the inside you couldn’t use the thumb lock. Also the elevator was out of service and the pool was down. I booked because they said it was refurbished, they have a long way to go. Epic fail.

No personnel, check in was via kiosk. No security, large group people in parking lot all night parting and fighting. It’s a Motel 6 so we didn't expect amenities however we were shocked with the conditions of the rooms, tattered, old, and smelly. Kept our fingers crossed the old window AC didn't stop since it was clunking and roared. One of those sleep with your clothes and shoes on and nothing was put on the floor. We were in town for a funeral (which are never planned), everything else was sold out due to soccer tournaments until suburbs or Lake Geneva! Take our advice, if you hv same situation make the drive - don't stay here.

We had recently checked in to this location on 6/26 at 1:41am. At around 4:30 we woke up to someone opening are room and shouting things for us to come out. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR THE METAL BAR LOCK, strangers would have been in our room. After that, we felt unsafe to continue our stay at this location and checked out around 5am. We had told the woman at the front desk about our experience and she said she would review the cameras. It has been over a week and we talked to customer support more than once to request a refund for this awful visit and upon them trying to contact the owner for more information, they find that he/she “is not in at the moment”. We have called the location directly and have been given the same response. Would definitely pick another location if you prioritize safety and customer support. 8/10/2024 UPDATE: Never heard back from the owner.

We only stayed to keep from driving farther and paying stupid high prices. I hate Motel 6’s everywhere!! 🫣 the phones are unattended. No one is in the lobby. It’s. Kiosk over video to check in, pay, and get room key. There was dried blood on one of the doors, I carry Lysol!!! So there’s that 😨😠 Three or floors, no elevator. A review from a month ago saying same thing “elevator is down”. Overpriced. Not what online says. They would not make exceptions. No AAA or any discounts allowed. Which is STUPID. Rooms were doable. 🤷‍♀️ will I stay again? Naw.

Everything about this place was basically a nightmare. We tried to call ahead to ask a question and no one answered. When we arrived, there was no one in the lobby. Instead, it was a kiosk with someone attending over skype or something similar--which also explains why no one would answer the front desk phone when we called earlier. The whole space was a maze: we tried to find the elevator and it turned out to be out of service, which then made us find stairs that were not easily accessible. There was no easy-to-read map or locator to help guide us. The room was generally okay in terms of space, but the restroom and bed were filthy. There were feces-like stains on the inside of the bathroom door, bloody/red stains on some of the towels that were supposed to be clean. There was also a stain on the toilet, which we couldn't wipe off. The shower curtain also had similar stains. The bed also had mystery stains, which was just the cherry on top. The door lock also did not work and the bolt/latch also got stuck. DO NOT STAY HERE. The price is definitely not worth it.

Awesome place updated and the rooms are super nice. Staff friendly and ice and vending machines. Coffee in the morning. Allow pets they have a dog part with dog poop bags so they can go to the bathroom. My kitty stays with me there sometimes and she loves it. Microwave and fridge in rooms.

I wish there was a I wish there was an option to Negative stars but it won’t allow me to post this without at least giving one. While I’m sitting in My moldy dirty filthy room I decided it was imperative for me to write a review. Still experiencing the absolute worst experience of my life it’s beyond a nightmare first of all there’s no one to greet you at the front desk when you check in at night, you have to speak to a person on a screen in Florida….. “Florida” I need two rooms for the night a king size room, and a double in the king size room. All the towels were filthy. They had hair and blood stains all over them. There was hair on the walls in the shower. There were sticky stains all over the nightstands, the tables, the desk, and the chairs in the room was horrific. I was actually afraid to leave my car overnight. The room with the beds had blood and sticky stuff all over the lights, the bedsheets, the towels and the walls there were no blankets and there was blood and Yellow stuff all over the towels in the bathroom although the room was spacious, I felt like I was in a storage unit and someone’s Apartment basement. I noticed that there was an extra lock on the doors for both rooms because it seems that someone tried to kick in the door so the wood panel on the wall next to the doors were split in half. Floors were littered with specs of trash and the entire hotel smells like cigarettes and sewage. the most pleasant and delightful experience of my Stay is packing up to leave and neeeeeeeeever ever coming back!!! my sons were mortified that they had to sleep in the room and I was embarrassed as a father to provide this type of facility for them. I literally had to go out to the car and get sleeping bags so we felt more comfortable spending the night and these atrociously despicable rooms. The aroma of weed, Covid and curry filled the air and made it hard to breathe. Never will I ever recommend such a nightmare to anyone.
