IF YOU RESERVE A NON-SMOKING ROOM, DO NOT CONSIDER IT GUARANTEED (EVEN IF YOU HAVE RECEIPTS ON ARRIVAL). I came to Newport with my partner for a friend's wedding. I reserved a non-smoking room with this Motel 6 several weeks in advance. When we arrived around 4PM to check-in, they said that there were no non-smoking rooms left (despite me having email confirmation/receipt of a non-smoking reservation). We ended up going to the wedding event without checking in. They told us they would find a non-smoking room for us by the time we got back that night to check in. We made it clear that we had a medical condition requiring non-smoking room and they falsely assured us they would find a solution. Around 11PM, we returned to Motel 6 to check in. They had not fixed the issue. They said they did not have any non-smoking rooms (again despite having email receipt). Our situation was clearly not communicated between the day team and the night team. The person at the service desk said "Sorry but that's how it is, you can either take a smoking room or you can leave. If you don't leave I'll call the cops." We had to leave at that point and had to find a reservation at a nearby other motel. Most importantly, they refused to offer any sort of refund. Instead, they were very dismissive, took zero accountability, literally kicked us out, and refused to offer any refund. If you are traveling with a family, do not expect to have your room available on arrival. If there is an issue with the reservation, know that we were left without a room, told to leave, and not offered a refund (all despite having receipts).

The short: Avoid staying at this place if you can. Smelly rooms, damp bedsheets, unhelpful staff. It's not worth the high cost; I would have preferred staying somewhere more comfortable & cheaper further out from Newport/Jamestown. Now I know! The long: Room smelled of mildew. Hot water in the shower took about 10 minutes to kick in. TV screen was broken. Bed sheets were damp, and the room in general was humid (defective AC unit?), when we woke up in the morning our bags were damp too. The bathroom door was so distended from moisture that it wouldn't close all the way. The floors were not clean. The staff were unhelpful and indifferent at checkout, the person at the desk wouldn't look me in the eye when I respectfully told them the issues we'd had, and they told me they were powerless to do anything—I'd have to call back on Tuesday to speak to someone then (it was Sunday morning). Having driven across and around North America many times for work, I've stayed in a lot of two star hotels in my life, and this was likely the worst.

Not the best but not atrocious. The rooms had clean linens, albeit ones that are due for replacement. The bathroom floor had not been mopped but the toilet and shower were clean. There was visible dirt on some of the fixtures but no sign of bed bugs. No sign of roaches. AC worked well. TV and WiFi worked, there were functioning vending machines that accepted cards and an ice machine. Free self-parking for guests. My biggest complaint was that the whole first floor smelled BAD like B.O., obviously some sort of water damage that had not been cleaned. Very close to downtown Newport, and worked perfect for our one night trip to town. If you’re looking for a quick, cheap place to stay this is worthwhile (but bring some air fresheners!)

**Horrible Experience at Motel 6 in Rhode Island** I recently stayed at the Motel 6 in Rhode Island with my family, and it was hands down the most horrible place I have ever stepped foot in. The motel was extremely sketchy, and the service was appalling. First and foremost, the lady at the front desk was not only rude but extremely racist. From the moment we arrived, she treated us with utter disrespect. When we kindly asked if we could change rooms due to the unbearable smell of cigarettes and urine, she almost yelled at us and made us feel unwelcome. The rooms were in deplorable condition. They reeked of smoke and urine, and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. There was no soap or shampoo provided, and the toilet had stains on it. The bathtub was extremely nasty, making it impossible to feel clean. We booked a room with a fridge and microwave, but neither was functional. The fridge did not work, and the staff couldn't care less. They told us that’s all they had available, even though we booked weeks in advance. At night, we couldn't sleep because of the constant noise. There were always people smoking weed right outside our room, and we heard fights and disturbing noises. The floors in the room were always wet and dirty, to the point where we had to clean them ourselves every time we entered. Room service was a joke. They were never available or would show up extremely late, and they never provided what we asked for, even something as simple as a towel. To top it all off, the room was infested with bedbugs. Overall, I do not recommend this place and would never come back here. I only stayed because I had paid in advance, but please, do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.

Positive: The staff was excellent and took good care of me as i left early and received a credit for the days not staying with no hassle. Negative: The room 108 did not have the best odor overall was a bit offensive. i am not sure what it was. The outside could use some clean up each day. The lobby smells of smoke but i believe this is due to more smokers that stay in this hotel.

It was a really gross and disappointing experience staying at this location. Almost everything in the room was broken, and the floors were sticky. Staff were very friendly in coming back to mop the floor, but overall it was very unpleasant. We asked for a non-smoking room, but the hallways were so saturated with cigarette smell, it seeped in under the door. The only housekeeper I saw was dragging a giant garbage bag through the halls with no cleaning cart. Motel 6 as a corporation should be ashamed of the conditions they subject their workers and customers to. Staying at Motel 6 was a huge mistake. But again, stay were very friendly and helpful. I hope they can find better jobs elsewhere.

We booked the hotel last minute on its website itself. When we got there to check in then we were told that there is no room. After few arguments we were walked over by the front desk person to room by opening the room that not even cleaned after last checkout. Then was offered another room right next to front desk that had house cleaning done in morning. The room had very bad smell and was appointed out to front desk as soon as we got in. But there was no response. The central room key system was down and only front desk’s master key was opening the rooms for guest to get in and wait until it will be fixed some time mid night or in morning. After settling room, we realized there were cockroaches all over the room. We called the front desk but no one showed up until morning to see the situation. We asked for iron in morning and initially were told there is none but after an hr wait someone brought it. All in all we trusted the recent review on Google that it’s been renovated and cleaned recently but guess it must be either fake or completely of other site of the property.

Positive: Nothing. Negative: If I could give this a 0 for cleanliness, staff and overall experience, I would. The hallway smelled like weed & cigarette smoke, the room they gave us was dirty & unmade. Front desk was rude and uncompromising.
