Motel 6 Grand Rapids, MI - Northeast - Motel in Grand Rapids - 3221 Plainfield Ave NE, USA

Booked a reservation in Feb 2024 for a July stay at this hotel. Friday-Sunday morning Took the ferry to Michigan from WI and realized we were going to get there way earlier than expected. Went on the website and called the number on the page to get a hotel for that night (Thursday) with the stipulation we were able to check in very early that morning, sleep, then wake up and go to main reservation check in made in February. The gentleman said that was fine and added a note in that we would be checking in early. Arrived at the location and immediately upon telling the front guest MANAGER Alex we were there to check in got the worst attitude ever. Her response was "Well if you would have read your confirmation you would know we don't check you in this early" I explained the situation to which she tried to fight me on every piece of information I provided to her. Ultimately she said that I booked through expedia and not her, so she was not able to give me a room. I let her know I called the phone number on their website to which she basically called me a liar and said there was no men working so I didn't know what I was talking about. Told me to not give her attitude when I was trying to tell her the story when she kept interrupting me and wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise. My boyfriend and I were absolutely dumbfounded by the amount of disrespect she showed us. Ive worked in some form of customer service since 2014 and I can say if I would have acted like this I would have been fired on the spot without a doubt. Beyond that, the room was absolutely disgusting. No one ever came to clean, floor was full of dirt and debris so when you got out of the shower you were bringing that filth into the bed too. Bugs in the bathroom that came from the floor/toilet not being caulked in. Just all over a horrible place to stay and 100% not worth the money or trouble with staff Save your money and go anywhere else

It's a good value for the money. My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights with our cats. We were looking for a pet-friendly place that wasn't insanely expensive and this fit the bill. The front desk staff were nice and respected our request for no housekeeping services (due to one of our cats being a potential door darter). It was quiet, aside from the usual sounds of people walking in the room above us. There's a pool, which was mostly used by families with kids. But it has an actual deep end (8'), which is a welcome change from the shallow pools that are often advertised as swimming pools at other hotels. It's obvious that there are people, mostly families, living there. The other guests that we talked to were very friendly and minded their own business. If you are triggered by the sight or presence of working-class people, you probably wouldn't want to stay here.

We were here for 4.5 weeks due to my husbands work and they accepted my large and small dog. It’s nicer than most Motel 6 properties and the staff is really amazing and with us being there for extended time I got acquainted with some of the staff which was appreciated being as it’s just my doggos 12-14 hrs a day! Tonya, Pam and Allie were all so helpful and made us feel at home!! This place is a diamond in rough with its awesome staff and rooms are decent and clean! The housekeeping staff does a great job!

Friendly staff, clean hotel, and affordable. I love that I got to bring my dog free of charge. The pool is very clean I was the only one who swam in it the 2 days I was here. Very walkable to stores. Rooms have microwave and mini fridge if you want to bring your own food to save money however there are several restaurants nearby and fast food. They offer wifi but it wouldn't work which was a bummer since I brought my tablet to watch movies. Hotel is quiet there are peoole that live here at the far end of the building because it's an extended stay so you will see people sitting outside by stairs ..it didn't bother me I talked to several people. If your afraid of strangers then you may not want to stay here because they do sit outside and they have that right they live here!

Outside appearance and grounds are well kept, but the entrance doors to get to the elevator from the parking lot reeeeeally need painting. The room on the other hand was only PARTIALLY updated, half the bathroom was updated the other half is VERY outdated and not up to par. There were brown streaks and smudge marks on the bathroom wall tile, the foundations for each bed were VERY OLD and looked horrible, the room was very large, but had no place to sit except for 1 very hard chair. The bed was comfortable, but the room photos on the website is NOT what our room was.

I made a reservation and paid for a room two weeks ago with two beds in the room, but when we arrived yesterday to stay in this motel, they gave us a room with one bed! there were three of us! I said that I booked with two beds, but they put all the blame on their manager! very bad attitude of the staff towards people! do not recommend this place to anyone!

If a review is all it takes for you to destroy someone's life, you're putting ego over truth and integrity. I miss when places actually cared about customers and staff knew how to emotionally regulate. Sad times we live in and I'll pray for your souls.

Great customer service and price for the location. As long as you’re alright with roaches every now and again. Definitely check your bed sheets and floors before you go to sleep .
