Motel 6 Colchester, VT - Burlington - Motel in Colchester - 74 S Park Dr, USA

It's a room at a 2-star motel, so set your expectations accordingly. Despite low expectations, reality was even lower. Our room had stains on the walls (I don't want to think about it...), dried cat puke under the bed, blood on the curtains, and a clogged shower drain. The motel is being used for homeless housing and that was not disclosed anywhere when making a reservation. "Quiet hours" start at 10PM yet someone was vacuuming in the hallway at 11PM. There are what look like abandoned cars with no license plates in the parking lot. The main hallway smells like a urinal. There's no soundproofing. The key card access for the side door didn't work. The list goes on...

I reserved a room in April 2023 for April 2024. I managed to book through Expedia before all the rates skyrocketed due to the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. Yesterday, the property decided they would cancel my reservation, in favor of getting a premium rate from another booking. There was ZERO communication from this property, just an automated email message. I understand trying to make money and I understand what is proper and not proper for behavior. I also understand greed. This is just a blatant, and disgusting choice by the property to maximize profit for already inflated prices on lodging. I can understand an increase....but 300%?'Maybe not illegal, but it sure goes against what "service" is. Apparently, it doesn't exist anymore. I most certainly will never stay here in the future.....and I will encourage family, friends and the public to do the same. I will utilize every social media and lodging platform I can find to make that happen. Maybe Motel 6 doesn't care during a solar eclipse, but the rest of the year is another story when they are trying to fill rooms. Either being a professional business means something.....or it doesn't. In this case....it sure doesn't!

Even though initially we were charged about $360.00 for one night after our airline flight was canceled due to Hurricane Ian and I had written a very poor review of this hotel...we were refunded 1/2 the amount ($180.00) for our trouble. We believe this to be very fair and are grateful that Motel 6 made this adjustment. Overall the hotel is basic with very few amenities if any and the front desk attendant was super rude. I understand that we were needing this room at the last minute and on a Friday during their peak Fall season, but the price was excessive for what they have to offer. I must express our satisfaction with the way it was handled though and will give them another chance in the future if the need arises.

Already at the parking lot were quite a few old, battered cars and very strange people. Also in the hotel, in the elevator and in the lobby were quite dubious guests. The rooms were fine, as pictured on the internet. When we left for the city center, we met a man with three attack dogs in the elevator who did not have his animals under control. Irresponsible and dangerous! We were afraid for our children and our own safety and therefore left. Unfortunately we can not recommend the hotel.

Pros - The hotel is nice and well located. Check in staff was efficient and friendly.||Cons - For the price of C$178 I would expect shampoo and tissues in the bathroom and more than 1 tiny bar of soap. Room had a foul odor. No breakfast was a negative as well considering the price.||||I was traveling on a motorcycle and had limited packing space so toiletries were left at home. I never expected a hotel to not provide. That's insane.||||Stayed at much better places for much better price.

We checked into the Motel 6 a bit early. Our room was ready so they let us check a bit before 3:00pm. Our room was very nice and immaculate!! We took a quick ride to find parking near Church St. in Burlington. At the most it was about a 12 more minute drive |and easy to get to. About 30 minutes after our return to the hotel we got a phone call that an elderly family member had been taken to the hospital. The hotel was very good about not penalizing us for both nights that we were scheduled to stay. I could absolutely understand losing one night charge. The manager and the desk clerk were very understanding about this! |Some of the reviews for this hotel were not good and this is not the case. My husband and I are going to rebook our stay for June|at this hotel without hesitation!!!

excellent stay. front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. AC was not working in my first room and got a room change after informing the front desk- AC was working fine in the second room. cleanliness of room was good. ample parking space (outdoors). Free coffee. swimming pool (kind of small but was not too bad).

Overall, the stay was fine. The front desk staff were friendly, and they had a very generous pet policy. The only problem was the air conditioning system did not work. It was incredibly hot the night we stayed over, and the temperature in the room was 75degrees all night. We tried to change the thermostat, but it did not help. It was impossible to sleep. Otherwise, everything else was satisfactory.
