Indian front desk lady with glasses cancelled my reservations as I was coming out of my car and then she got upset when I confronted her that she did that. And she Blacklisted me from this hotel . And told me to come speak to the manger on Monday to get my refund back and I booked the room from Friday - Sunday. Luckily I had some extra cash to be able to get a room at Studio 6, across the way which I highly Recommend....

I would have rated my stay with at least two more stars; however, a couple of situations had come up during the duration of my stay. On the first night, just before bed time, I noticed a very TINY bug that appeared to be see through. Alarms were going off in my head, but I seemed to have talked my conscience down off the ledge and convinced myself that it was not in fact a bed bug, but a roach that had just been born or something. The next morning, I woke up super late because I tossed and turned all night having the worst dreams about bed bugs. Since I woke up late, not knowing what time it actually was I assumed I was no where near check out time. Boy was I wrong, because all the sudden my front door started to nake noise sfter putting the key in to open the door. Here was the maid, "Housekeeping!!" I jumped up and told her, "Whoa!!! What are you doing?" She couldn't hear me, I immediately picked up on her being deaf. Turns out she is an excellent lip reader. She told me to go to the front office now if I wanted to extend. I thanked her and went up front. Now, the morning shift FDC, she's an African American woman, I'd say in her late thirties-early forties. She is the most unpleasant, standoffish, unprofessional, incredibly rude individual I have ever encountered in the hospitality industry. And I have stayed in countless hotels all over the United States. While trying to inform her of the bug situation she told me she wouldn't talk to me or hear me out AT ALL until I got all my things out of the room and then after come back and then she'd take my complaint down. I tried to tell her I'm not complaining and was trying to pay for another day but she wouldn't hear any of it. I finally turned around and went to get my stuff out and said loudly to her, "the room has bedbugs." She didn't take my complaint seriously because the room has been rented out every single night since. On another occasion, while waiting to check-in she told me that I couldn't be in the parking lot, and very rudely and pretty much yelling, told me that don't I belong over there and pointed in the direction of a group of homeless people staying on the edge of the property next to the highway off ramp. And that I needed to move my trash and garbage off the property too. My suitcase and duffle bag were The North Face and great condition. No where near trash or garbage. After being called several names and talked down on, I left. I couldn't believe I had been treated this way. I can't believe she talks to anyone this way. And most of all, I can't believe she has a job dealing with the Public.

The remodel is amazing. But there needs to be more supervision outside. All night there was people hanging out outside, women walking back and forth wearing inappropriate clothing. There was men working on their cars and arguing. My room smelled so much like cigarettes for a non smoking room. We turned on the AC and it smelled even more. I sprayed my perfume and it did not work. There were pincher bugs! We stepped on at least 5 of them. We didn’t complain we just wanted to leave asap.

I am so grateful for the assistant manager here she goes above and beyond and she works so hard to keep her facility together. I appreciate the hard work that the housekeepers go through to keep everything clean. The staff went above and beyond as far as making me comfortable and uncomfortable situation. Let me know. There are a couple good people here there’s bad people everywhere as their assistant manager just told me but here the good people who have a heart and they let me know that, everyone is heartless

This is not a safe location There were some reviews online saying that this was a great location saying that this was a very same location it is not. They lied, I would never come back to this location again. There were pimps outside a lot of other people outside acting weird. The bathroom hinges on the door were loose. The shower head hangs down this is a horrible area. Couldn't sleep, the guy next door to me keep going in and out of his room yelling at himself never again

On multiple different occasions I was denied the ability to rent a room because when I provided my CA ID, issued by the California DMV, the lady working stated; "Sorry, but I cannot rent you a room because this is not you in the ID." I was completely shocked! Even after she proceeded to ask me a bunch of questions about my date of birth, address, and ID number, which I of course got right, she still wouldn't rent the room to me. I was in a serious motorcycle accident and had been bedridden and in a wheelchair for over a year so naturally I had gained some weight during that time, but that's no reason that I should be denied the ability to rent a room. Or should it?

Pros: *the hotel checks IDs of all guests and visitors and seems to take that seriously *I didn’t see people hanging out and congregating outside of rooms. *Things were pretty quiet at night. *AC and heat worked. *sheets and pillow cases were clean *the lights all worked *the door locked securely Cons: *Howard Johnson hotel across the street is out of business. The old Howard Johnson hotel has been invaded by homeless and other people. It looks very dangerous with tons of people congregating outside of their rooms, junk outside, and broken cars being worked on in the parking lot. The city is considering rezoning to make it low-cost rental units, which seems to already be causing a bad influence on the neighborhood. I didn’t notice this until the next day when I was leaving. They seemed to stay away from the motel 6, but still something to keep in mind. A lot of shady stuff happening at that Howard Johnson. *non-smoking room smelled a bit like cigarettes *smoke detector had been covered with a plastic bag with a rubber band around it *the AC/heater made a lot of weird noises *can hear people in other rooms sometimes *the floor was very dirty, dusty, hairy, and had some bugs on it. I didn’t want to walk barefoot on it, always wore socks or shoes. *a big pincher bug up high walking on the wall. I was worried it would fall on me in the night so I got up and whacked it with my shoe. *another small beetle with white/black strips of some sort was walking on the wall too. *the old hvac system still has vents in the room and I could see the very dirty filter in the ceiling. *the bathroom door was loose, the top hinge was pulling out of the wall. Had to lift it up to get the door to latch. *shower head drips rust on the shower entrance making it look like someone peed there when I first arrived. *the curtains let a lot of light through the sides so the parking lot lights kept the room from being completely dark. *you might sink into the bed a bit *the surfaces in the room weren’t cleaned very thoroughly. Signs of stains and spills remain. Overall, I’m glad I could get a peaceful night’s rest here for a lower cost, but I wish things were maintained better. Unfortunately, after knowing about the abandoned Howard Johnson hotel across the street, I would stay away. I didn’t notice that when I arrived. The lobby staff was nice, but I can’t rate the overall service as high because the room wasn’t clean, which reflects a housecleaning staff that rushes and doesn’t take pride in their work. It also reflects a management that tolerates uncleanliness.

Rooms are okay. Bed was nice and soft. Large TV. Bathroom has no ventilation fan. There are USB charging outlets next to the bed; this is appreciated.||Swimming pool was closed (in July!), and is a dirty, swampy mess. Why even have a pool if you are not going to properly maintain it?

Stopped for dinner in Bakersfield on our way to San Jose. We enjoyed some pupusas - shrimp for hubby & loroco (squash flower) for me. The chicken tamal was very fluffy and had more of a spongy texture. The plantain empanadas were very rich and creamy
