Motel 6 Atascadero, CA - Motel in Atascadero - 9400 El Camino Real, USA

Almost every room needs repairs. Especially plumbing. Furthermore, we stayed in a room upstairs where someone had obviously tried to kick the bathroom door in. We did meet a nice man who was wearing a Motel 6 shirt. I couldn't help but notice his window was not even there! Just cardboard and duct tape protecting this man from any sketchy people. I hope he is someone from upper management who can really give corporate a feel for what it is like to stay there.

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. The first room they tried to assign us was possibly missing an entire front window, ac unit was destroyed and it was hotter in the room than outside and it was 102 degrees that day. The room we were moved to had burned holes in the bedding, and burned desktop from what I can only imagine was from cooking. The air filter was literally dripping with dust particle clumps. They did not have hot water in the entire building and failed to tell us at time of check in. Apparently it had gone out the day before and they were still waiting to her back from someone? Not really an acceptable excuse, and why fail to inform your prospective guests?? We left 6 hours later when my husband walked into the bathroom to find roaches everywhere. I’m still waiting to hear back from corporate on the report I filed. We’ve always used motel 6 due to they are pet friendly and usually fairly well maintained for a reasonable price. We will never used them going forward for any out of town accommodations. When you’re calling corporate to inform them of the condition of your rooms and your they say “eww, if it was me, I wouldn’t stay there” - that says something.

You get what you pay for. The few staff we spoke with were very nice. It wasn't always easy to find the front desk clerk, though. Rooms were decent if a bit abused. We stayed for 2 nights with no noise or other issues. Several of the staff members are obviously heavy smokers since they walk around all day with lit cigarettes in their mouths. Overall, for the price we paid, it was just what we expected.

Our room was dirty. There were no toiletries, including toilet paper until we asked for a roll. There was only coffee, no breakfast. To add to the experience the ac was broken so our room was hot and we had to open the window which let in the smell of the garbage stored below and we were awakened by our neighbors conversation. Do not recommend.

I had a terrible experience with this hotel. I booked a one-night stay for July 19-20 through Agoda, but on July 18, I woke up feeling unwell and tested positive for COVID-19. I immediately tried to contact the hotel and Agoda to cancel my reservation, but the hotel refused to cancel or refund my booking, despite my circumstances. I even attempted to speak with the manager, who promised to get back to me but never did.||To add insult to injury, Agoda informed me that the hotel refused to provide a refund. This is especially disappointing compared to my experience with Motel 6 San Simeon, where I had a reservation for July 18-19 and was fully refunded after canceling on the same day I was supposed to check in. They understood the situation and were accommodating.||In contrast, this hotel showed no empathy or flexibility, and charged me $103 for a night I didn't even use. I travel frequently, but this is by far the worst experience I've had. I would strongly advise against booking with this hotel. They literally stole my money and didn't even offer to reschedule my stay. Horrible experience!

This place has no hot water I have been here three days the lady at the front desk says it doesn't come on until around 10 thru the afternoon. The coffee is super weak the phones don't work drug deals going on outside. Pet friendly but no place to walk the dogs. 91 dollars a night for a bed no blankets and 2 small pillows. This place is the lowest of them all. Looks ok from the street.

Writing this review after 34 days, after all attempts to contact the Atascadero Motel 6 manager AND the global Motel 6 customer support have failed. DO NOT rent a room here. You will be more comfortable, and your stay, more predictable at a rudimentary campsite. Only about half the staff is interested in doing their duties. The manager, Amy Goldman seems to be completely disinterested, does not care about returning calls, nor about any feedback given directly to her or to Motel 6. We booked 2 rooms with double-beds. Below is the confirmation we received for both rooms - "Deluxe Room, 2 Double Beds, Non Smoking, Refrigerator & Microwave" We reached the hotel at 4pm, i.e., past the check-in time. They said that only 1 room was ready, and that only had a single bed. As we had 3 people in each room, obviously that could not have worked. They took a long time to get that 1 room ready. The room wasn't cleaned properly and it looked like the sheets and stuff was not changed. For the 2nd room, they made us wait for an hour. Then they gave us the keys. We went in, and found that someone was living there! Their luggage was there, refrigerator with their contents, and the bed was not made. I don't understand this - then why did they give us the keys to that room! So we waited for another hour, while he instructed the cleaning staff to make our room. We waited and waited - finally I went looking for the cleaning staff. They had no clue that they had to clean this room and get it ready for us. They were just going about their regular round. We got the room very, very late. In the morning, there was no hot water. I complained at the office. They said they will look into it. We waited again. After half an hour, i checked again, and they were like "Oh, no one has hot water, not just you". Well, how about informing us as soon as you found out? Turns out that their boiler was not on. Then I told the staff to turn on the boiler. After a while, I checked again and they said that that staff person did not have access. Then I told him to get the person who has access. He said that person lived on the property and they will get him to turn on the boiler. Note that *all* the guests did not have hot water. A while later the staff said that the person to turn on the water was sleeping and refusing to wake up. And that's that. They said there was nothing they could do. They said only the manager can open the room and turn on the boiler, but she was coming at 10 AM. After a while, they said that they did not know when the manager will arrive. At this point, we had to leave the hotel. I went to the front desk for refund. They said only the manager could give a refund and asked me to either wait for the manager or call the manager, Amy Goldman. Amy did not pick up. I then called Amy 3 times during the day and she did not pick up. I called the front desk through the day and they said they did not know where the manager was. I called Amy three times after that - the next day, a week later, and 3 weeks later. She did not pick up, nor she returned any of my calls or voicemails. Then the voicemail could not be left because the box was full. I called Motel 6 and they told me to talk to the manager. I wrote the Motel 6 and the only response I have received is the auto-generated email acknowledging the receipt of the email I sent. I still have not got my money back. Do not waste yours. I used to like Motel 6, but it seems they are going out of business and don't really care that they are going out of business. Their staff is a shame and blemish on the hospitality industry. These are completely indifferent paper-pushers. Is it priced for such service? Not at all. The prices are "competitive". You will feel better sleeping in the back of your car. Avoid this.

Unfortunately this place is trapped in a rift between time and space ! Hot ! Dry ! Old , sad running down hill building with a lack luster dead plant property. Old wall thermostat that is barely working , is warm inside my crumbling room . The maid was still inside my damp room , with her very small young children with her . One child inside the cart in dirty laundry sleeping in the 90 degrees outside! The other child sitting outside the door while she cleaned ! Very sad . Over price is an understatement, we truly wanted their 2 stars to be an overstatement but no . This place probably should just be closed down. Thanks for letting me share my experience, hopefully no one else has to suffer!!!
