Mormon Trail Center at Winter Quarters - Historical landmark in Omaha - 3215 State St, USA

Visiting from California with our four young boys and we really loved our visit to the trail center! The museum tells the story of the pioneers’ migration from Illinois to Utah in the mid 1800s, with interactive exhibits, artifacts, videos, a life-size cabin and wagon, toys for wiggly kids to enjoy and more. We opted for a thorough tour that lasted an hour. And wish we could have stayed longer. It’s all free and the guides are so friendly and knowledgeable. This would be a great place for a school or scout field trip. What an inspiring story from history to teach your kids - highly recommend!

My wife and I were on our way to visit Nauvoo. We decided to stop by the Winters Quarter's visitors center. We are glad we did! The Church has done an amazing job with the site. The missionaries are helpful and even gave us a personal tour of the visitors center. There are lots of cool things to see. I learned a lot about the history of Winters Quarters. One of the sister missionaries came to the cemetary across the street with us. She helped us locate the places where 2 of my wife's relatives were buried. The cemetary on the hill is right next to the Winters Quarter's Temple. I highly recommend visiting. It is one my favorite Church History sites we've visited.

Such a lovely little place to learn history and spiritual things. But even if you just want to look at the history, the missionaries are kind and will help out. They sadly don't do the gingerbread exhibit anymore, (and haven't for years) but they have a great little children’s area!

Very nice experience. Minor discrepancies in the stories and a little bit of historical inaccuracy, but for the most part it’s pretty cool. Avoided some parts of the history including the Mountain Meadows Massacre, which I believe is a very important part of the history of the Mormon Trail. Also left out conversation about the Utah Wars in general. Our guide, Elder May, was well spoken and a good guide. Cool place.

Phenomenal tour with lots of history, excellent displays, and a great view of the cemetery and temple. Your guide was so personal and connected well with us.

There was a special spirit here as history was shared and we learned of hardships and triumphs of those that traveled and settled the frontiers. Those giving tours are very nice and also cautious of our time. There are picnic tables that were shaded and wonderful in the late afternoon. This was a wonderful stop on our road trip.

Historical accounts of how there came to be a Mormon Trail. Don't miss out on the short films after the tour and if it's nice weather do the cemetery tour as well. The volunteers are fantastic and knowledgeable.

Sister Davis took us on a walking tour through the museum! It was super interesting and the three kids I brought (15/11/8) listened the whole time and even asked questions! It was really nice having someone lead us and give us information beyond what the little blurbs say. She was really kind and engaging. It was very enlightening to learn about The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints!
