Moran Motel - Motel in Kure Beach - 118 Fort Fisher Blvd S, USA

I have never given a bad review, and I hate having to do so, unfortunately I need to warn anyone else that expects a little better for their money. That said, yes, the cost was cheaper than most places in the area, but not cheap enough to account for what it lacked. The room was ill equipped, they claim to have WiFi, even give you the password, but once you enter it, you are told the Moran Motel has NO INTERNET. There was no closet, no outlet in the bathroom, only two in the room that we could find. There was a microwave and small fridge that we were very grateful for, but nothing else, no utensils or a cup, not even a coffee pot, or even electric kettle. The shower was so small you couldn't turn around in it, (I ended up buying a shower curtain liner so I didn't have to touch the curtain itself), and the shower wall was cracked and pushed in with the spigot hardly moveable, water wouldn't get very hot either. The AC unit didn't work properly and worst of all , the room was filthy! Within an hour I was running to the store for cleaning supplies! There was blood on the sheets, there was black grime on every door nob and frame, the floors turned my feet black just from walking from the bathroom to the bed, literally 6 feet away. We even had a cockroach / palmetto bug climbing the wall. It had a pool, but I never saw it.vwe didn't know where it was but more than that, we were so horrified by the lack of cleanliness in the room, there was NO WAY, we were stepping anywhere near their pool. I would have let this all go as a lesson learned, IF the staff even attempted to rectify the situation just by claiming to fix the problem and clean properly. Unfortunately all we got for our efforts of trying to explain it to them is a bunch of lame excuses. The one thing about it that I loved was that it was so close to the beach! I would never return nor would I ever recommend to anyone that values feeling clean and comfortable where they sleep.

Location is great - we knew it was outdated but we’re ok with that bc we simply wanted a clean place to stay with a kitchen and living room (we are at the beach to fish) didn’t have to be a 5 star luxury condo . But when we entered we were immediately met by roaches coming out of water heater in kitchen . They are in cabinets and drawers and all over kitchen and living room . From Saturday to Monday I spent much time complaining and patiently waiting for a resolution . We spent our $ on airtight containers for our food , roach killer dishes to cook in bc everything was disgusting . Finally Tuesday I had enough and finally showed my butt enough to actually get the owners number who wanted to love me to another room - I would have moved to a different property but no other room there . While we did get a measly discount the roaches still were there and the kitchen had a drip for water (I have videos of all this as proof) . We wound up clotting our vacay short bc of this nastiness . I will be going further to get reconciliation on this matter . They spent days thinking by telling me “he’s gonna handle it “ I would forget but NO ! I recommend you all stay anywhere else.

Our family has been coming the last 7 years but this is our last summer staying here! Motel is not managed properly since management and a change in employees the year prior. We gave it another try hoping for the best but we learned our lesson. Housekeeping is poor service compared to any other year. Dog on premises even though they “don’t” allow dogs. The on-site maintenance drinks with guests. The rates increased for 2023 $400 more for the week and if you’re thinking of coming in 2024 they are charging $1000 more a week. The only thing it has going for them is the location.

Rooms are small, but clean. Fridge and microwave are bigger than the high dollar hotels. Close to EVERYTHING!! Pier, beach, restaurants, shopping. Pool is clean and guessing 16x32. Will definitely stay again when in the area! Owners and staff are friendly and most helpful.

We come to Kure about 4-7 times a year. This was the first time we stayed at the Moran. We did a last minute trip and this one had a room. Pros... Location. Pool and pool area was clean and nice. The grills and picnic tables was clean and nice. New microwave, stove and big refrigerator. Cons..... Checking in was like talking to a robot. She seemed like we was an inconvenience checking in. The pool closes whenever they want it to. The giant cockroach. Your feet will be black from the floors. The internet was trash. We had to use our Hotspot. Wouldn't ever hook up. The beds was like a water bed if someone moved. Room was small. The bathroom was the size of an rv (with rv size toilet). My husband had to fix our toilet cause it was hooked up wrong. My teenager took a shower and said "mom come smell this towel". It smelt like weed. They all did. My wash cloth had hairs in it. The toilet paper was see through. Kitchen had no dish soap, But dish towels. The keepers has a dog which is fine. But why not allow other pets? Now one day we was in the pool and the cleaning guy was cleaning the house behind the pool (also belongs to motel). He came back by us and so did the weed smell. So that answers why my towels smelt like weed. The broom in the room was 100 years old, so we couldn't sweep. If none of this bothers you then this is the place for you. My husband, I and our 3 kids will stay elsewhere.

i was visiting Kure Beach for the Cape Fear KiteFest 2023 The Moran was the closest i found to Ft Fisher & it turned out it was midway between the friday night event & Sat/Sun festivities i went down to ft fisher early & the event was already crowded with scarce parking. i parked at the monument & walked down the beach. it was fun seeing the big kites but i had my own to fly & i really wanted more room without a long walk the beach out front of The Moran was inviting & kept calling my name as it turned out there were LOTS of visitors that walked down from the pier & others that saw my kites above the hotels as they were stuck in traffic & came to visit on their trek to Ft Fisher i VERY MUCH enjoyed the staff & crew at The Green Hotel & enjoyed my visit. If i can make next year's event, i will definitely try to book at The Moran AGAIN heres a few pix of the kitefest & the beach access out front

Very well placed with easy access to the back and pier. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. We will be back.

What a diamond in the rough! Hands down, for the price, you can not beat this stay. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Rooms are outdated and need a little love, but they are clean and comfortable. This lovely gem is 100 yards or less from the fishing pier, restaurants, and coffee shop. The pool was very nice and clean. It was also accompanied by an outdoor grilling area fitted with picnic tables and lights. 10 out 10 would stay again!
