BED SIZES ARE SMALLER THAN ADVERTISED! Their "Queen Rooms" actually have double/full sized beds, not queen sized beds. (I can only assume that their "King Rooms" actually have queen sized beds). They should really rename the rooms. Other than the bed sizes, the lodge was a great place to stay in - wonderful location, pool and jacuzzi were well-heated, staff was very friendly. It is still a great value hotel (I'll just book the King Room next time...)
I really wanted to like this place and I was hoping it was going to live up to the “cute Monterey motel” vibe, but it did not. We got the pet friendly room even though we didn’t have a pet with us. The floor was not carpeted and I don’t think it had a mopping in a while, our feet were black after walking around the room for five minutes. The shower was awkward and the shower head was on the very edge of the stall and aimed in a strange direction, so I had to hunch into the water flow. The pool area was very neat but didn’t have the chance to check it out fully. You can’t beat the location so that is why I selected this place. Maybe I just got a dud room but overall, my experience wasn’t amazing. I would suggest getting a suite or something that is a little more “high end.”
This hotel deserves more than five stars for its location. There is a nice park and coastal bike path across the street. I did not have to drive anywhere, and I only did it once because it was raining. The staff in the lobby was also very accommodating. My only complaint was the bathroom. The showerhead was not centered and was right next to the shower curtain for some reason? I turned it in as much as possible, but that didn't help much. The bathroom floor was soaked since the water was nearly pointed out of the shower and easily slpashes out. You have to get very intimate with the curtain to take a shower. Trying to shower a couple of kids made this minor inconvenience a big hassle. Overall, it was excellent, but hopefully not every shower at the hotel is set up like this.
Our family (2 adults and 1 child) stayed at the Monterey Bay Lodge for two nights in October 2023. I wish we could have stayed much longer. We were greeted by friendly staff at check in. Our room was spacious with two comfortable beds on the second floor. The bathroom had the neatest bathtub - I think they call them a 'princess tub'. My husband loved the water pressure. I liked that the mirror and sink were in the room instead of the bathroom. There was a fridge and microwave for use as well. The sliding door lets you out onto a shared patio that faces the pool. We LOVED the pool. I think it was heated and it was such a treat for us Canadians to swim outside in the middle of October. Also the pool open late. The courtyard is also very charming with lights strung through the trees and two fire pits to sit by and chat. The location was really unbeatable - right across the road from the ocean and steps away from the Denise the Menace park - a big hit with our kid. There is a gas station seconds away and a fast food place right down the road. It was only a few minutes drive to the aquarium and super close to Pacific Grove (where our family lives). It truly felt like a motel experience from a bygone area where families would go on road trips for their vacations and stay at motels like this one. The only thing I didn't realise when booking is that they don't have air conditioning. It wasn't that big of a deal in the fall but not sure how that would fare in the summer. Otherwise I can't wait to stay there again! Thanks for a wonderful experience
The room was clean and recently renovated. It's close (walking distance) to the wharf and a short drive to Cannery Row. The room was quite small, but if you're only staying a night or two, it's fine. The staff was friendly. Overall, a good stay.
Hot sweaty box with no air flow next to the highway. At first you walk on and say wow this is super cute rooms over looking the pool cute style nicely clean. But once you try to fall asleep either you need to have booth window and door wide open leaving you in a highly vulnerable environment with the noises of the highway as the background or you have to have to close the door and windows making the room hot and the air stale and stagnant. This would be an easy fix for them through instillation of heat pump ac/heating but it looks as though they will continue this way until the government forces them to do something about the environment they have there guest sleep in. Hotel would be amazing if it were not for this huge flaw.
Extrêmement cher par rapport à la qualité de la chambre : salle de bain sale, mauvaise literie et murs très fin (les joies d'entendre ses voisins ronfler). Les photos sont très flateuses par rapport à la réalité. Je déconseille.
Very friendly staff that let us check in early. Room and common area was nice. Location was great! You can hear the neighbors snore though.

Oh my gosh, really comfortable. It could be called a lodge. Plenty of outside areas to sit by the fire or whatever. The pool is heated well plus the hot tub. My suite was huge. Fireplace and TV room.
Stayed here for two nights in the middle of the week. Went in not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. I was in an upstairs room that was cute and well kept with a nice small refrigerator and freezer combo. All amenities worked well. The hot
Room was nice, clean and spacious. The hotel has a rustic feel to it. The breakfast could be improved with adding scrambled egg and better quality of bread. Overall a good place and we would like to come back.
I joined First City Crossfit in September 2023 and could not be happier with the overall experience. I've been to many crossfit gyms around the country and this has been, by far, the best. Frank and the coaches are outstanding! They have such a desir
First time going wine tasting here, and I loved it! They have many options, from doing a 4 flight up to doing an 8 for tasting. What caught my attention was the tubes they brought the wine in! A unique way of serving wine. The spot is very relaxing t
