Wife and I enjoyed our weekend stay at Monte Verde. Located walking distance to the beach and just steps away to Ocean Ave. We had the Cal King Fireplace room, located on the first floor and next to reception but it was cozy and felt like a home. We were gently greeted with a breakfast basket every morning outside our door and enjoyed fresh coffee on the patio. Receptionists were incredibly nice and gave us great recommendations on where to eat and explore. Parking is limited but you won’t need to drive around once you secure a spot since it’s so close to all the main attractions.
I really enjoyed my one night stay at Monte Verde Inn. The staff was exceptionally helpful with info about the area - best way to get to the beach, restaurant recommendations, and even what his favorite thing on the menu was. The location is excellent, just a few steps from Ocean Ave where all the shopping and dining is. It was noisy since the windows are open (no need for AC). So that is the only downside. Ear plugs were provided for sleeping. Once it got dark, it was much less noisy. That would not keep me from staying again.|There was cream sherry in the room upon check in and a breakfast basket was brought to the room around 8:00am. |I would definitely stay at Monte Verde Inn again and would recommend it to others.
It is a small recycled boutique hotel with good taste, extremely cozy at a reasonable price. It is located in the primary area of Carmel by the sea, 50 meters from Ocean Avenue and four blocks from the beach. All restaurants, shops and galleries are located at a walking distance. Extra point for the most complete breakfast basket that they bring to you in the morning and the chocolates with the sherry in your room. The price includes a parking space that are otherwise difficult to get. Special gratitude to Casey who received us very kindly and gave us invaluable directions to navigate Carmel.
This has been our worst stay in Carmel. Only first floor rooms are pet friendly and we have our dog with us, so we are on the first floor. This place is so old you hear everything! The people upstairs are so noisy! They were up at 5:30 am on Friday morning and it seemed like they were doing laps in their room. All their noise of walking back and forth and banging things around was very inconsiderate. When we told the front desk, they did nothing. They didn’t even offer to talk to the guests. At night when all was quiet, we could hear the guests in the room next to us (first floor) snoring!
The hotel is very dated and hasn’t been upgraded since I don’t know when.
We love Carmel, but we will NEVER stay here again. I would highly recommend finding another place to stay that is pet friendly. This place is old and in much need of upgrades.
The hotel is charming and clean and location great (close to beach and town); however the room I stayed in was small and not recently redone as claimed—for example the older shower was difficult to use with the shower curtain and old plug and there was no air conditioning —(I finally figured out how to open the window but it did not open fully). Lastly (and what stays in my mind), the owner/manager yelled at me when he saw a corner of the bed with sand/beach soil on the sheet and a couple of spots on the chair, yelling, “we will not make money on this room”. I left shocked and never ever wanting to return—be careful.
First time visiting Carmel. Monte Verde Inn was a great place & location. Right up the street from beach access. Room was very clean & well appointed. Loved the little extras added to the room. Breakfast delivered to the room was great. Randy provided excellent recommendations while in town.
Would highly recommend!
I checked into the Monte Verde Inn on March 15, 2024 and checked out six hours later because I was itching all over. The bed was too soft and full of dust mites. I told Randy I could not stay there and needed to check out. He told me I would be charged that night because the Inn could have given that room to someone else but I told him the Inn was not full. He looked at me like a deer in headlights. I have since filed a claim with my credit card company to dispute this charge. I hope no one goes through the experience I have gone through. Totally unacceptable!!!
A quaint throwback to the 50’s, this little Carmel inn is worn around the edges, but excellent service from Randy at the front desk and a very strategic location at MV and Ocean made it a very convenient place to stay for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am. Would have loved a larger bathroom, but a very enjoyable stay nonetheless. Nice breakfast basket in the mornings added to the experience. It’s not the Four Seasons but it doesn’t try to be.

Such a pleasant stay at Tradewinds! This is a dog friendly inn on Mission street, just a few blocks from great shopping and dining. The hotel was quiet and my room had partial (and beautiful!) views of the ocean. The check in service was great and ea
My favorite beach on the California coast! I prefer it in the winter when it's less crowded. There's always, always, people on it though. Beautiful waves, soft sand, lots of space to walk at low tide. It's a great place to bring your dog but be aware
Sophisticated and cool with unusual, unique, quality merchandise. Several lines are Italy direct exclusives. I went in to purchase their vegetarian make up (no chemicals) and the soy based nail colors but found so much more. There are gift items for
Nice little town on the way to Big Sur! Each of the shop and/or property here are aesthetically decorated and taking a walk worths it. Free street parking available for limited time frame so watch out. Several gas stations and restaurants are around
Really perfect place for kids to play. The water is warm and clean, and there are a lot of pelicans resting in the river. Besides, you may explore the sea creatures in the rock such as crabs, hermit crab, fish, and sea ââurchin. You can also rela
