Montana Creek Campground - Featured Reviews (200)
I took my dog here. He is dying and this has got to be one of the best campgrounds I've ever been to. It is wonderful, does pots are really lovely and private. It's not loud and noisy, and they have everything there. You can think of even fishing. Equipment rentals, we will be going back a whole bunch of times God willing
Staff was great assisting with finding another camping spot since someone had taken the one we had reserved. The second spot was even better than the spot we reserved. Was fun to watch the Humpy Derby for the kids and got some fishing in as well. Was a great trip.
I was very reluctant to write a bad review of this place as I had heard from locals recently that the owners were "going through hard times." I want to support and encourage local, family-run businesses but I also want travelers to know what to expect. We reserved the most expensive site on their map - referred to as "The Hilton" - as a treat to ourselves. We were really looking forward to it. When we arrived we found a muddy, weedy campsite with an adjacent dirty porta potty. We stayed for lunch and then bailed out to look for more suitable lodging. On our way out, we asked the proprietor if they had flush toilets. He said "no - just the porta potties." We then asked if they had running water anyplace he said they only have a hose. He did thank us for staying and wished us well. If you are an RVer and don't need facilities, this campground might work for you. Otherwise, seek other lodging.
Great managed camp site. Trash cans and porto potties everywhere. But be prepared for mosquitoes! We were there mid June and humans and dogs were being eaten alive by mosquitoes even after we sprayed ourselves. Camp site is protected by woods from wind and those mosquitoes are everywhere. I only have seen such a bad situation at Nancy Lake few years back. If you come here, bring a net tent so you can have a break from these flying “birds of Alaska.”
Noisy, loud and unruly - don't go here you want quiet, no quiet hours - loud groups and even thumping music well past 11pm. Much quieter and cheaper across the highway but no hookups, only electric here anyway for more than twice the price
There was construction and flooding when I was there so I couldn't get to where I wanted to fish, but it's a really nice campground with full hookups if you want it.
This is one of my families favorite places to camp. Nice sized sites and great access to the creek. Rain or shine they always have something to do. The sites and bathrooms are well maintained.
Electric provided. Fishing was not good because of late spring rains. Mosquitos will cover you in seconds if you are not wearing netting beside river. Shop has necessities for a price.

What a great little gem of a place! This was the best drive through espresso ( tied for overall best) I had over my two week Alaskan vacation. That's saying a lot as I roast my own coffee and make my own espresso at home (Kind of a coffee snob). Them
