Montage Big Sky - Resort hotel in Big Sky - 995 Settlement Trail, USA

We wanted to do an early ski trip and decided on the Montage at Big Sky after our wonderful experiences at their properties in Kapalua and Deer Valley. Montage goes a step further than 4 Seasons in differentiating the experience. Our spacious and elegant room also had a great view. ||The staff was fantastic from the start and made up for challenging snow conditions in December. We had to take a shuttle to Mountain Village where the majority of the black slopes and the Tram are. Otherwise, the Montage is 2 chair lifts from the main area. ||The property is made for skiers and the on premise sports shop took great care of our equipment. We really enjoyed the restaurant Cortina for breakfast and had dinner there twice. We tried several higher end options in Big Sky and did not find anything better. I really enjoyed the Trout Crudo and the grilled trout. ||The Bar Alpenglow is also a great option for lunch where we ate when we arrived and they can make proper drinks before dinner unlike some of the local restaurants. Awesome bartenders. ||We will definitely come back.

We have come to relish our stays at the Montage - not cheap but a truly memorable and luxurious way to enjoy the incredible playground that is Big Sky. Rooms are new and well appointed and service is extremely warm and guest oriented (if not always hyper rapid, but just reminds you to get on mountain time). We’ve already been several times and can’t wait for our Inn residence to be ready for occupancy this summer!

Wonderful vacation! Staff is top notch! Accommodations are luxurious. Montage does not disappoint! Staff goes out of their way to help you. Extra touches such as addressing us by name, gifts for the kids upon arrival, and Montage Merits were awesome. I did tell them it was my son’s birthday. He received a dessert and round of bowling, which was fun! Skiing was pristine. Helpful staff and well maintained slopes! Rental equipment was nice. Tubing and s’mores were a great touch. Gym was well equipped and well maintained…lots of variety. Bowling was fun! Location is excellent! Close to town and skiing. My only complaint is that the food quality at the mid priced restaurants could definitely be better- particularly Alpenglow and Beartooth. Backcast and Wildflower are wonderful! Also, beds and bedding could be a bit more luxurious. We will be back!

Stayed in Big Sky with a group of friends and came to this property for lunch and dinner on separate days. The property is in a great ski-in/ski-out location and is beautifully constructed with the trappings and amenities you'd expect from a high end ski resort.||Dinner was great: Good food, solid service, and nice ambiance in the restaurant and lobby bar where we had a pre-dinner drink. I wouldn't write a review commending this experience; it was what anyone would expect at an upscale place.||The main purpose of this review is lunch the following day. We stopped at the slopeside Asian-themed restaurant, and it was a terrible experience. It took 30+ minutes to order our food and drinks, and we were only able to order after specifically flagging the server multiple times. The drinks and appetizers took forever to arrive, and again nobody ever stopped by to check in, take additional drink orders, etc., or do anything one would ordinarily expect from the service at an upscale restaurant. We then spent another ~45 minutes waiting for main courses, checking on status with servers multiple times to be told "it's just a few minutes" out each time, before finally we spoke with a passing server who went to check and came back to tell us that the dishes were "more than 10 minutes out," meaning that the kitchen had not even started preparing them despite us sitting there for well over an hour and checking on the food with staff multiple times after huge delays. We told them not to bother and left the restaurant. It's worth noting the restaurant was not overly crowded by any means, nor did it appear understaffed, so I have no idea why service would be such an issue. All in we spent 1.5+ hours here and didn't even get a main course. ||I've never experienced such terrible service at any restaurant, anywhere, ever, let alone at an expensive hotel such as this one. My only interpretations of what happened are 1) this was just unprecedented levels of ineptitude, or 2) this was intentional for some reason. Either way it's completely inexcusable. I've stayed at various Montage Properties across the US, and they have always been great - nothing has come close to this level of incompetence, so presumably these service issues are unique to this property and its staff. ||I love Big Sky, skiing, and the outdoors, but there is absolutely no way I would ever come back to this property when there are so many other options. Once a couple more comparable places open up in the Big Sky area (One&Only Moonlight Basin, etc.), this place is going to get blown out of the water. Awful - go elsewhere with your hard-earned money.

We visited Montage Big Sky at the end of June and had a wonderful time! All the Montage staff made us feel like family since we stayed for a week. Their attention to detail was impeccable. The hotel itself was clean and new. We enjoyed the arcade room and the bowling alley as well. All the food we had was delicious, from inroom dining to the coffee shop muffin. The most amazing part of Montage is the view of course. Big development is going on and there's a construction site is only a minus. The location is close to the west Yellowstone park gate. Plus lots of hiking to do nearby, even with a two year old! We also stayed at Four Seasons Jackson Hole during this trip, and Montage was as great if not better. Our family made amazing memories while we stayed at Montage Big Sky. We will definitely revisit!

Just finished having a massage with Ben at this beautiful new Spa in Big Sky at the Montage. Ben was excellent and loved that he gave such a relaxing yet firm massage. Definitely coming back to the Spa which has beautiful locker room, hot tub, pool and relaxation areas. A special treat!

We had lunch at Wildflower Market enjoying the beautiful winter views. We ordered fresh salads and hand crafted ham and cheese croissants. We even stayed for French pastries and desserts! We would highly recommend!

We have been married for 30 years now and travel to different resorts every year. We travel all over the US as well as other countries. I can honestly say we have never had better service and been taken care of so well. We were here for 10 days and it was the same result everyday. From the driver's to the wait staff, bartenders, front desk, concierge, even housekeeping, this has been the best service we have ever received at a resort. They gave so much attention to detail and everyone there chipped in to do there part even if it was not there responsibility, not very common. This was our first time here but not our last. They have made us feel like family and we will continue to come back. I cannot mention everyone by name that impacted our trip, there are to many of them, but I do know them all by name now. I would give this place 6 stars.
