This little hiking trail is a tiny treasure! Off the busy intersection and hub-hub of monsey theres some quiet and serenity! Great local short hike perfect for couples shmooze or just a walk with friends. Pretty steep at some points- so no match for strollers/ small kids.
Quite small but is a great place for a short hike/walk. The parking lot is small but usually empty and you hardly meet people there. According to local government website, pottery and artifacts of local Indians dating from 1000 BC to 1600 AD were found in a cave at this park.
Decent secluded place to take a private stroll/hike and think about the greatness of God and how much good he does for us. However, its pretty small especially in the winter with no leaves on the trees and you can basically see the surrounding houses. It takes away that sense of privacy somewhat. Unfortunately there's nothing really better in the immediate vicinity.
I recently had the privilege of visiting Monsey Glen County Park, a nature preserve located in Monsey, New York. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the park's rich history and serene beauty. The land on which the park sits has been inhabited for centuries, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Native American tribes who once called this region home. Over the years, the park has been lovingly preserved and maintained. In recent years, Monsey Glen has become a popular destination for the Breslover Chasidim, who have been drawn to its serene and peaceful atmosphere. They often go there to recite prayers, taking advantage of the park's natural beauty as a backdrop for their devotions. Overall, my visit to Monsey Glen County Park was truly a special experience. Its rich history, natural beauty, and spiritual significance make it a unique and inspiring place to visit. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating outdoor experience.
Out-of-the-way in the middle of nowhere was a beautiful walk in nature. I only saw one other person in there and my dogs and I frolicked to our hearts content.
An untouched piece of mother nature, in the midst of an overbuilt, urbanized Monsey. A little nook to enjoy a brief stroll in the woods or a relaxing afternoon to gain some respite from our daily chores.... No major trails....
This park is convenient to Monsey. There is an unpaved walking path, one section of which is a bit steep and not suitable for a wheelchair. The main drawback is a great deal of traffic noise from the adjacent Interstate I-287.
Pretty lame park. Not much to look at. The trail also intersects with itself hundreds of times making it very difficult to get anywhere. The trail intersects with giant power line stuff and runs right by a water cleaning place and right next to houses and streets so there's really poor views. There are also signs posted everywhere about ticks carrying Lyme disease making me really question whether this park was worth the risk. If it's been raining recently there is a nice little river at the bottom though. It is a super easy trail though and it is conviniently located for people around the Shopping District of Monsey so if you're in the area it might be worth swinging by for a bit. As long as you keep your bearings you should be able to find your way out to the river at the bottom and back.
