One of the best architectural creations in Missouri. Like most of the other governmental buildings in the US, this is also modeled after ancient Roman architectural style. The building is four-stories tall and most of the space is accessible to public. The ceilings and the walls are decorated with frescos that narrate the story of Missouri state. Public can also view the current senate chamber. The exterior and interior of the building are both impressive in their own ways, The Missouri river seen from the capitol adds additional attraction.
The Missouri State Capitol is a stunning architectural masterpiece. Its imposing dome and neoclassical design are captivating. The interior is equally impressive with intricate details, beautiful murals, and a sense of history. The building's role in Missouri's governance and its historical significance make it a must-visit for anyone interested in politics or architecture. It's a symbol of the state's pride and a testament to its rich heritage.
The building is under renovation. Some areas got blocked off partial. The main building is nice, and got only 1 color is the original concrete color... see pictures for more details.
It’s free entrance. Very beautiful architecture and arts. You can go see all three levels.
Great looking capitol building, plenty of guest parking. Tons of murals. Best time to visit, Sunday.
Ask most Americans "What is the capital of Missouri?" and they won't know. It is definitely one of the lesser known capitals as it's not a large city like Saint Louis or Kansas City. It's Jefferson City and it is smack dab in the center of the state with the Capitol building on a bluff that overlooks the Missouri River. This is my 46th Capitol to visit, leaving just Honolulu, Juneau, Salem and Olympia on my quest. This fabulous and impressive building was completed in 1917 and because of the placement, you can't miss it from anywhere outside the city. The Baroque-styled structure is loosely modeled after the famous Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. Atop the dome is a statue of Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture. The grounds are completely open as is the interior. Murals, a grand staircase, giant statues of Lewis and Clark and on good days, you can climb the stairs to a viewing platform in the cupola. There is lots of parking nearby, some of it metered and some of it not. There are open walkways all the way around the building, making for great photo opportunities from everywhere. Don't miss Jefferson City.

Wonderful place to visit. Go to the Missouri Museum, take a tour, see famous paintings and visit your Legislature. Lots to do here for everyone. I recommend parking behind the Truman Building and coming through. Also the Supreme Court is close by as is the Landing and so much more. Touring this capitol is a great way to spend a day!
