Beautiful, historic bed and breakfast in the heart of bar harbor. All the shops and restaurants are within walking distance and it is minutes away from Acadia National Park. The owners and staff are very kind and made our stay very comfortable and memorable. And the food is INCREDIBLE! Every breakfast was creative, fresh, and delicious. They even went out of their way to feed us before we hit the road on our last day. We will definitely be returning in the future! Thank for having us!
Great location making all of the town easily walkable and Acadia is just a few minutes away. We stayed in the Rocklyn room, which is in a building behind the main house. It was quiet and comfortable for our two night stay. Breakfast was a choice of 3 entrees and was very tasty. The portion sizes were probably what we should call normal but were on the light side for my husband. Staff/Inn Keepers were all very friendly.|The only real issue we had was with the wifi. It does not work AT ALL, unless you are in the main house. The explanation we were given for why it didn't work in our building made no sense. Bar Harbor has poor cell coverage during peak times, so the lack of wifi was a real problem.
We are so glad we chose to stay at Mira Monte Inn! Friendly and helpful staff, comfy rooms, easy walk to Bar Harbor…and the breakfast menu -Wow! 3 breakfast options daily so we chose 2 and shared so we could try as much as possible. They were unique and delicious, and a great way to start a day of hiking at Acadia. There were snacks and drinks available throughout the day and we really enjoyed drinking coffee on the porch in our room. Mira Monte Inn is a perfect home base for your trip.
We spent two nights at the Mira Monte Inn in September and wish we could have stayed longer. We stayed in the Saint Sauveur. Our room was so nice! The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was very spacious. Be aware, this room has a deep jacuzzi tub/shower combo so you have to step up pretty high to get in but there's a grab bar to help you. There is free coffee and snacks all day long! Mmm, home baked brownies! You can choose your breakfast the day before from 3 different offerings. The menus were creative and food was scrumptious. Wish we had more time to stay longer. Highly recommend this charming inn!
My husband and I just returned from 4 days ar Mira Monte. Cheryl, the owner, was welcoming, as was Kim who shared very helpful information. The location is super convenient in terms of being about a 10-minute walk to the center of town chocked full of delectable restaurants and unique stores. Rooms were very clean, comfortable, and quiet. A highlight was a delicious choice of 3 breakfasts every morning. The choices ranged from highly familiar to rare treats. Overall, we were very pleased with all amenities.
The location is right on the main drag so it's a bit noisy in the mornings but very convenient to downtown. Our bed was comfortable and the fireplace made it very cozy, quickly. But, the Inn is showing its age; the wallpaper is peeling and the floors aren't level so the doors have gaps underneath. Our room (the Atlantic) had 2 rather uncomfortable Victorian chairs but no table in between or lighting so it was difficult to enjoy. The hallway leading to our room had an air conditioner going 24/7 - in Oct, so it was cold. There is a Keurig in the dining room, for coffee in the evening, but no hot water for tea. Also, you need 2 hands to open the front door due to the lock code and 2 door handles. The innkeepers were friendly and the breakfasts were good but they should have a fruit/yogurt/oatmeal option for those of us who don't want eggs, sausage &/or french toast every morning.
After extensive searching on the internet while planning our Bar Harbor trip, I came across Mira Monte Inn. Many of the rooms were available when we made our reservations, but we settled on the Marlborough. One of the website descriptions noted that it was spacious, located at the back of the house and quiet.||We booked months in advance and I reached out a couple of times via email and left messages with questions. Email didn’t get a response so perhaps I had an incorrect address (but it didn’t come back as undeliverable). ||The day of our arrival, I received a phone call in the early afternoon from Cheryl asking what time we expected to arrive. I told her that I wasn’t sure as we were in Freeport and there was torrential rain all day. She sounded a little annoyed that we didn’t have an ETA and asked again after telling me how far Freeport was. She said to call back when I had a better idea and she would tell me the after-hours instructions as check-in is 3:30-6:30 pm. ||I called back about an hour later and Bruce answered. He was very kind and said folks check-in late all the time and to take our time and enjoy ourselves. He said told us where we could find the late check-in info and it turns out that it was in a permanently fixed area so they clearly plan for this. I couldn’t understand why Cheryl didn’t mention that when we spoke and asked us to call again.||Admittedly, I was a little put off by the exchange but my husband reminded me that people in the New England area can come across as blunt but that it wasn’t personal (he was stationed in Boston early in his military career). He was right — when we met Cheryl in person, she was enjoyable and informative about things to do in the area.||The Marlborough room is very lovely. It’s on the first floor, left hand side of the house (a very beautiful historic home) as you’re looking at the home. It has a comfortable king-sized bed, although we didn’t love the pillows that go very flat. The room has plenty of lighting with tabletop lamps, a dresser, small closet, two luggage racks, nightstands on each side of the bed, and two chairs with a small foot rest. There’s also a nice porch off a side door so you can come in and out of your room without going through the main area. The bathroom is very large with a huge jacuzzi tub.||The only negatives of the room for us are the pillows, location, and heat. Heat because there’s only a window AC unit (the historic home only has window units). ||It was fairly stuffy and we were slightly uncomfortable the first night. I asked if we could have a fan and it was in our room later that day, which we greatly appreciated. It was still in a box so I’m not sure if they purchased it that day after our ask (which is very accommodating) or if it was in storage. It did make the room much more comfortable. A tip — keeping the bathroom door shut also maximizes the air flow in the room.||About the location — it’s very conveniently located near the main dining area. There’s a small fridge in the dining room for all to use so it was great to go grab our cold drinks. It’s also easy to access the back parking lot from the side door on the room. But if you’re a light sleeper like I am, you may want to consider another room. I was awakened each morning about 6 a.m. when the prep for breakfast began. I could hear movement, dishes clanking, sometimes loud crash-like noises and eventually when more staff arrived or folks began moving around, voices.||This may not bother you if you’re a heavy sleeper or not bothered by noise. But if you are — definitely consider a room further back in the house or upstairs.||For breakfast, you have three choices. One choice is generally a dish that has eggs. The second choice is a pancake or French toast dish. The third is what they call a simple breakfast — generally eggs and a meat. ||The food is very delicious. My favorite thing was the maple candied bacon. I wish I had more! Waffles were light and airy and tasty. All the egg dishes we had were great.||As for cost, we were there for three nights in mid-August and it was just over $1k. I’m not very familiar with Bar Harbor lodging pricing, but I imagine that’s on par with what it costs for the area. The location is convenient — an easy walk to town but also just far enough away from the busyness of downtown. It’s also an easy drive to Acadia. ||Overall, we had a great experience. It’s a beautiful, historic home, breakfast is very yummy and the hosts are welcoming and accommodating.
We are a family of 4. We stayed there 3 nights. The first morning only one person was able to shower. After that we had NO WATER. When you turned on the faucet, nothing came out. We complained! The next morning 2 people were able to shower, and again NO WATER. We complained again. We were told they would call a plumber. The final morning at breakfast the owner informed us that the plumber had been there and didn't find anything wrong. There was no problem. She was going to give us a 3% discount for our trouble. What she didn't realize is that after breakfast when we returned to our room, the plumber was there. We talked with him regarding the water problem and he informed us that he wasn't there the day before, So the owner lied to my face. So, the location of the property is good, but if showering in the morning is something that you would like to do, find somewhere else in Bar Harbor. We will never return there.
The good: The location is excellent right on the water. The breakfast is delicious. Thereâs always coffee, teas and bakery good available. Main Street is a block up. The staff is super friendly and engaging. Shout out to Jill for helping us plan a
Very homey and comfortable with a great breakfast. Stayed three nights and had a different breakfast each day. They have a hot water machine in the dining room and a comfortable living room to hang out in. Parking was large enough for a large jeep.
What a great Bed & Breakfast! We stayed in room 1 on the ground floor. It was clean, spacious, had a comfortable bed and lots of natural lighting. The en-suite bathroom was also spacious and we enjoyed the new shower with multiple jets. The breakfas

The BEST! Very fresh ingredients, tons of coffee options & vegan options. Pickup is very easily accessible as well, we have been picking up a sandwich and then packing it on our hikes. I could eat here every day :)
This was such a beautiful place for an easy hike. We loved that it wasn't crowded and the views at the end were breathtaking! Make sure check the rocky areas in the water for seals!
