I am a wedding photographer and photographed a wedding at the Milwaukee County Historical Society in September 2022 and it was such a stunning venue to work at! The venue is elegant and sophisticated set in a gorgeous historic building in downtown Milwaukee. The grounds were beautiful along the river, and the getting ready space was beautiful and perfect for the wedding party. The interior is flexible for ceremonies and receptions. The old bank vaults and the unique library make for unique wedding photo locations. I would definitely recommend booking your wedding here!
The Society was the PERFECT place for us to get married on NYE. Rich in history, a stunning building and fantastic staff (Two Birds Event Group) made the night one we will cherish forever. We had our ceremony and cocktail hour downstairs and then dinner upstairs, which worked perfect - no room flip! We're so grateful to Bella (Two Birds), Mame (MCHS Director) and everyone else who made our wedding so magical.
Two Birds did a phenomenal job with our wedding this past December! The venue was breath taking and both Bella and Nick did an outstanding job working behind the scenes to make the reception so smooth. I would recommend this location and team to anyone!
An absolutely stunning historical building completely filled with exciting history! The multiple, completely massive old bank vaults are breathtaking. Exceptionally helpful staff - whether simply visiting or engaging in historical research.
We had the wedding of our dreams at the Milwaukee County Historical Society. From the day we saw the venue a year ago, we fell in love with how elegant and unique it was, and were so excited to showcase it to our guests. About halfway through planning, we found out that the venue event space had changed ownership, which could have been very stressful in wedding planning. However, Two Birds took over and made the transition absolutely seamless, all while honoring any prior agreements we had. Bella in particular was so easy to work with and communicated well with us and all our other vendors to set everything up, which was greatly appreciated as we were planning the wedding out of town. Bella worked so well and closely with our day-of coordinator as well that it was hard to tell that they were from two separate teams, the day could not have gone any more smoothly despite so many moving parts, and she really made it our dream wedding. We held our ceremony in Pere Marquette park directly behind the society, followed by a cocktail hour on the society’s patio (which is conveniently shaded in the summer, making it very comfortable for guests). Dinner was on the second floor, and guests were floored by the gorgeous and intricate ceilings as they walked up the stairs. The size of the first floor was more than enough room for our wedding of 165, and the shape of the room allowed for easy flow between dancing, mingling, and the bar. Almost every guest has commented to us about how unique and gorgeous this venue is, and they especially loved the bank vault behind the dance floor. We truly had the most perfect day in a stunning venue, and cannot recommend this venue or Bella and the Two Birds team enough.
Three stars but part of that is on me for not looking at their website beforehand. I assumed there would be a permanent exhibit on the history of Milwaukee. No, they have long term exhibits on different aspects of the city. The current one is on Milwaukee and beer, something that doesn’t interest me that much. Friendly staff and an interesting building.
Nice museum for the right person. This museum is all about the beer brewing history and not much else. If you are interested, there is some good information. I spent 45 minutes here. The bank building is also really unique--I wish they had more architectural notes.
Feels like a hidden gem. But well-worth seeing! The museum was featuring a very interesting exhibition about beer and brewing in Milwaukee.

Had a great time over New Years at the Hilton Garden Inn downtown Milwaukee with Luka Live. Luka was fun, yet professional. Amazed us in many ways, including going the extra mile to greet us over dinner. Catered the show to the audience, and then s
