A most welcoming stay! Millbrook’s hosts and owners, Giancarlo and Lorraine, were nothing short of kind, courteous, and helpful. Giancarlo assisted with my bags and was happy to answer any and all questions I possessed regarding the history of the house and the fantastic pieces in which it contained (primarily from Europe/Italy). Equally, Lorraine provided wonderful recommendations on things to do, in addition to being a friendly face and conversationalist. Highly recommend the Millbrook County House for your future stay in the area!

Millbrook Country House is a typical small (four bedroom) BnB. There was a fair amount of road noise in our room facing the road. I suggest asking for the quietest room. We were told a weekday rate and were charged more than the quote, but didn't bother to quibble. We never saw Lorraine, but Giancarlo was friendly and unobtrusive. Breakfast was light but very good. It is quick walk to Millbrook, which is a lovely little village. If you are there on a Tuesday night be aware that most of the very nice restaurants are closed. However the Millbrook Inn was open and very nice.

Lorraine & Giancarlo are wonderful hosts. If you stay at their wonderful inn, full of rare books and antiques, many of those from Europe, in particular from Italy, you will love it. Afternoon tea and breakfast are made and served by Giancarlo. He is a very friendly, caring and hospitable proprietor. Highly recommended.

A nice and peaceful place to sleep for one or several nights. The hosts are friendly, accommodating and helpful in suggesting local gardens and restaurants.|This is an older country house that has modern amenities: each room has adjustable AC and a walk- in shower.|Each room has a different decor and is furnished with period antiques from Italy. The room has a printed list of the origin and style of each piece.|I was in the Rococo room which featured paintings, antiques and burgundy tones from that period.|Some reviewers complain about noise from the road and I did not encounter this.|I will say this : make sure your driving directions or Mapquest is Very Good because it’s easy to drive by the house and I actually had to backtrack twice to find it.|Aside from that, you will be relaxed when you leave.

This is a lovely, quiet place to stay. I spoke with Lorraine on the phone before booking the Luigi Filippo room, asking about the location, places to eat, etc., and she could not have been more gracious. I chose the Luigi Filippo room, which is on the second floor, looking out onto the back garden.||I arrived late in the afternoon on an unseasonably hot June day, and the rich terra-cotta walls and thick silk window shades made it feel like a sun-warmed Italian villa. The dresser is an antique from Giancarlo's family home in Italy (as are many of the furnishings), but the drawers opened smoothly, and were spacious and clean. It also had a large closet with two white-cotton bathrobes and plenty of hangers, and the bathroom was modernized and spotless.||There was not a lot of counter space, but there were a couple of small shelves and a little table. I chose to keep most of my toiletries in my travel kit and hung it from a hook on the door, so that was fine. The shampoo and liquid soap were in dispensers on the wall, but I had brought my own travel sizes.||I stayed during the week and there was only one other couple, who were in the adjacent room. When I arrived, I was told that the two rooms share a thermostat, which was in the other guests' room, but they asked if the temperature setting would be okay with me. If you need to control this yourself, you might want to select a different room, but it was not a problem. The bedside table lamps are very pretty and cozy, but just a little bit dim for reading in bed, if that's something you enjoy. There was no TV in the room, but I didn't want one.||I needed to be up and out of the house earlier than the other guests, but Giancarlo asked me what time I would like breakfast (7:30). The first morning, he prepared a starter of plain yogurt and strawberries with a dab of ricotta, followed by an open-face egg sandwich with tomato and cheese. The next morning was fresh fruit, an omelet with fresh spinach, and whole-grain toast. ||There are two housecats who are clever about opening the closed door between the dining room and the kitchen, but they were quiet and unobtrusive--a perfect adornment to a country house. I only mention this for anyone who might be allergic.||The house itself is situated along the main artery leading to Millbrook, Sharon Turnpike (Route 44), and some other reviews mentioned traffic noise; however, the house is tucked back a little from the road, and I didn't find the noise noticeable. It is a short drive into Millbrook itself, and Lorraine told me that there is a back road that is walkable, but I chose to drive into town for dinner at Barbaro (which was delicious), because I was by myself and would be returning from dinner after dark. Another wonderful restaurant, Serevan, is in Amenia, about 20 minutes away.||In summary, the Millbrook Country House is a charming, low-key place to stay. If you are looking for designer toiletries, a high-definition TV, and an in-room coffee maker, this is not the place for you, but I recommend it and will definitely return.

This small b&b is nicely appointed with a very accommodating owner. The breakfasts were tasty and made with care. There was road noise from Sharon Turnpike in our room that had windows facing the road. But, overnight the room was very quiet. It is a 15 minute walk to Millbrook's shopping and dining. For us this was a family trip, but the property is suited for adults. All the guest rooms are on the second floor, requiring a climb on a stair.

Hosts Giancarlo & Lorraine are charming, intelligent and uniquely qualified in providing a truly excellent B&B experience. Giancarlo's breakfasts are lovingly prepared in an atmosphere of rarely seen 18th century Italian furnishings. Lorraine provides local info on sites as well as a voucher for a free wine tasting at a top notch vineyard. Rooms are very comfortable, with your own thermostat for Heat/AC. The home's landscaping is appointed with beautiful flowers and outdoor sculpture creating a peaceful and contemplative scene......I shall return.

Took my boyfriend here for his 40th birthday as he said he just wanted something relaxing. Thankfully the weather cooperated and we found ourselves enjoying the sun on their outdoor patio furniture near the outdoor gardens on a blissful, sunny Sept weekend. ||||The owners are super super friendly - I enjoyed chatting with them very much. They were also happy to make suggestions for what to do and where to eat. There were a few other people staying there, while we were there and they were super friendly. I felt very safe & secure the whole time. ||||It was very lovely sitting out by the garden and enjoying a bottle of wine before we went to the vineyard (8 min drive). We also checked out the cute little down (10 min drive), which has a few shops and restaurants. ||||The room where we slept was really nice, very historic, but whew that bed was tough to sleep in! It's an older bed with an older mattress & we should have asked for more pillows! ||||For breakfast we had some ricotta with cooked apples and some toast with an egg over easy. It was okay, I did think they might give us a bit more, but fine for what it was. The coffee wasn't great, but my tea was very good. It sort of felt like I was staying at my grandparents house - which was kinda cute. Very historic. I should also mention, they do have two cats, who are very friendly, but could be problematic if you are allergic! ||||Overall we did very much enjoy our time and I would happily recommend this place, just a few minor tweaks I would suggest!
