Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Springfield - Hotel in Springfield - 2636 Sunrise Dr, USA

We checked in around 11:00pm, and from the outside the building looked decent. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly woman at the counter. She chatted about the concert with us and made sure we had shampoo, conditioner and body wash because she knew we stood outside all day and were tired and ready to shower. She was fantastic, and honestly, the best part of our stay. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were all super hard except for one out of the 8 in the room. |Mostly everything else was awful, unfortunately. Aside from the amazing night staff woman, and the comfortable beds…the other aspects of our stay were very poor. When we walked inside the lobby, one of the leather chairs was taped up with clear packing tape on one arm, and looked pretty tacky. When we got in our room, the air was very sticky and humid (and we later realized that because of this, the sheets on the bed felt damp. Ew.) The room also smelled musty, like a damp basement. There was a little cushion to sit on the window sill, but it had a quarter-size dark red stain on it. I always pull all sheets back clear to the mattress to check for bugs, and they had zippered mattress covers on the mattresses, but I could not find an actual zipper anywhere on them…as if they had been broken off so people COULDN’T check the beds thoroughly. One of the pillows had a bunch of little splatter stains on it. All of the pillows were rock hard except for one out of the 8 in the room. When we went in the bathroom, it was FILTHY. The toilet seat was almost completely broken off, so we got our legs pinched when we sat down. There was hair and dirt stuck on the bottom of the toilet and in the corners of the bathroom floor. There were many water spots on the ceiling. The bathtub had chunks of dirt in it that we had to wash down the drain before showering. There was also one of the free bars of soap open and stuck to the little shelf inside the shower, from after someone used it. The next morning we went down to see what they had for breakfast…we found some mini muffins, cereal, bagels, toast, a waffle maker, hard boiled eggs, and an entire shelf of yogurt that expired 3 days prior (I told the morning attendant about this and she said she was going to need to pull them, so obviously the dates were not checked before they were put out.) Milk and a juice machine. Nothing pre-packaged, other than the out-of-date yogurts, and because of the lack of cleanliness of the hotel, we decided not to eat because we just couldn’t trust it, unfortunately.

Very qualified front desk staff every day, every shift. We were here 1 full week for a family event. We just needed a clean, convenient hotel to park Rselfs @ night. We enjoyed the |Free Breakfast every morning. We only had housekeeping change R bed once & do the full cleaning once. We did get clean towels, wash clothes daily. All of the staff was great! They’re in the process of updating the hotel inside & out. They were painting everyday we were staying there. Very little noise at all during the day, Zero at night. We will definitely stay here again. It’s on Dirksen, across from Smokey Bones. It’s very convenient to R family in Springfield, hospitals. Shopping. Downtown & R hometown of Taylorville. We could have easily paid a whole lot more for a hotel room, but, why? We had all we needed here + friendly staff |& all the other quests were polite & friendly. Even all the workers, including the Painters!

Wife and I stayed at this location for two nights as we were spending the weekend in the Springfield area. Chose this location for both convenience of location as well as reasonably priced rooms. Robyn greeted us as we checked in on Friday afternoon, and she was absolutely delightful. Certainly was a warm and friendly way to start out our stay. She provided some recommendation on place to visit as well as restaurants at which to dine. Hotel has some established connections with local restaurants where you can get a ~10% discount (of which we did take advantage).||We had a king bed suite, which provided plenty of space for us to rest and relax between expeditions around the Springfield area. Bed was big and comfortable enough for a decent night’s sleep, and couch and table were nice during the daytime breaks. Room was reasonably clean when we arrived. There were some minor areas that could use some basic maintenance, but nothing was broken or problematic.||Price for our stay wasn’t cheap per se, but it was comparable to other locations and very reasonable for what we had. Only criticism that we really had was that the breakfast was rather sparse and lacking, but it was a free breakfast so we weren’t expecting very much anyways.

Only stay if you have a dog and can’t find another place. Room was damp and smelled like a dirty wet dog had just spent a week in there. Tough to breath even with the window open all night. Outside of the intense odor the room was cleanliness was decent at a surface level. Front desk staff was cordial and efficient.

We reserved the handicap room, when we arrived the desk clerk was very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean but shower did not have enough grab bars and the shower floor was very slippery. We checked in on a Friday, Saturday our room was cleaned but when we returned late Sunday afternoon, our room had not been cleaned! I was told the housekeeper had already gone home that our room would be cleaned the next day. Hell yes it will be, we are checking out tomorrow. Planning another trip to Springfield but not sure we will be booking here. Very very dissatisfied with the service we received

For my single-night stay, this hotel was OK; it wasn’t terrific, but it wasn’t terrible either. Upon my initial inspection of the room, I found that the area near the window could have used some more cleaning; there were several crumbs under the windowsill bed/lounge. The view out the window was not the best, either; the room was situated above the front entrance behind a fake “roof,” with what appeared to be a dirty cement floor in between. Though the breakfast was continental-style, it was still quite filling and the waffle iron was a nice addition. I didn’t enjoy the TV in the lobby/dining area playing an assortment of terrible music as I was eating, however. Good for a short stay, but don’t check in expecting a lot.

Positive: Staff was friendly and helpful.She came through in our time of need and was wonderful! It was quiet in our room even though we were on the bottom floor right next to the lobby and breakfast. Negative: The smell of the cleaning supplies

Solid place to stay. Room was cozy and quiet. The only issues I had was the bathroom fan didn't work and they were out of conditioner. Breakfast was free and had a variety of items including waffles, fruit, muffins and cereal. I'd stay again next time I'm in Springfield.
