Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Matthews/Charlotte - Hotel in Matthews - 1603 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd, USA

Lobby and elevator smelled very strongly of marijuana. Room was ok. The mirror head boards are extremely weird. We kept checking to see if they were two sided. Breakfast pulled at promptly 9:30a. Saw full plates of food being put back in fridge / freezer. Coffee wasn't even available and no coffee maker in room.

I've been staying at this property every weekend for the last couple of months and I've had no issue with the property. It's been clean and everyone has been friendly. My reservation normally goes through without any issues. This past weekend it wasn't sent to the property. Jennie (your awesome )went above and beyond to make sure she did everything she could on her end and was clearly disappointed she couldn't do more. She called her GM (I believe her name is Regina) and within 5 mins the issue was resolved. I'd like to thank you ladies for the last couple of months and this past weekend. This room is vital to my life right now . Your kindness and sense of urgency to my issue was greatly appreciated. I will continue to stay here based on that type of customer service . It's rare these days . Thank you again ladies and God Bless.

Positive: The disabled accessible room was very large and convenient for my walker Negative: There was absolutely no smoking in any of the rooms. I had to walk outside at 3 in the morning to smoke. That is not right. I was in a strange city. Anyone could have been out there. But I had to get up get dressed just to walk outside to smoke.

Easy check in. Clean room and friendly staff. ||The towels are nice and thick and two out of three of my pillows were fluffy and soft.||Enjoyed our stay. We have been there three weeks in a row and each week it gets a different star rating based on services.

There were several safety/fire hazards noted in this room ranging from an inoperable smoke detector, damaged electrical outlets, and sporadic ceiling lighting from what appeared to possibly been related to water damage. There was also very obvious evidence of marijuana currently being smoked on the premises and vagrants gathered at the side entry door. When I spoke with Jack upon checkout and showed him the photos to support my claims he showed no interest, stated that he would make maintenance aware. I reached out via email to Regina, who I was told was the manager and she has not bothered to respond. I will be reporting my findings to the local fire department and Wyndham corporate. ||Also, I checked in on 5/18 and checked out on 5/19. My room charge and deposit posted to my account on 5/18, but my deposit has yet to be credited to my account as of 5/24. What hotel charges the deposit prior to checkout?? And, yes I used a credit card and not a debit card. ||Trust the reviews and do NOT stay here!

This 'hotel' is a mockery to the Wyndham brand. It is absolutely horrible. The front desk female person on the evening shift is sorely lacking in customer service skills. No Smoking policy is a joke. The whole place reeked of marijuana and cigarette smoke consistently from the ground floor to the last floor (3rd). The maintenance is laughable...broken fixtures, non-functioning bathroom vents, filthy floors, carpets & furnishings, barely functioning external doors... I took pictures when I got to my room and a video when I left to 'CYA' because I do not trust that they will be honest about my stay. The overall feel of this place is nasty. Suffice to say that my stay here was Not pleasant! Also, if a deposit is required, it needs to be made known prior to a reservation along with the cost. To be confronted with the additional cost at check-in is disingenuous. Finally, I was charged the full reservation amount plus the deposit on check in….! What happened to charging the account on check out?

Clean and nice great location, front desk clerks was very polites and helpful. Breakfast was completed and good and fresh. The overall looks of the hotel amazing. I will recommend this location to all my family and friends. My next visit to north Carolina I will be reserving there again.
