Return visit to the Mermaid Inn. Just as great as our first visit back in December. The grounds were beautifully maintained. My wife took an afternoon nap in the backyard hammock. Breakfasts were served on the porch which was a delightful way to start the day. Speaking of breakfasts, Josephine always has wonderful choices for breakfast, I loved the almond French toast and fruit parfait. Our room was very comfy with a king-sized bed that will remind you of your grandmother’s featherbed. Slept great ! We were not the only returning guests as we learned from chatting with them over breakfast. To me that’s a sign of a great B & B when people keep returning. Location is perfect being 5 minute drive to Mystic Museum, 7 minutes to I95. By foot you can get to the shopping/dining district in less than 10 minutes. Fun shops and great restaurants. You just can’t go wrong here!|Kevin Gatlin
Such a welcoming and cosy place to stay. From the hand written notes for guests to the cookies and cakes provided freshly baked, everything here made us feel at home.|The breakfast is lovely, you are given a choice the day before and pick your time. Then sit out in the gazebo in the morning and it is brought to you - and wow, the most amazing bacon.|We stayed in the Blue Room, small but lovely.|Coffee machine down in the lunge makes good coffee and there are facilities for tea as well. |Door is on a keypad lock so you can come and go as wanted.
Our stay at Mermaid Inn was one of the most enjoyable getaways we have had in our 54 years of marriage. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Josephine is a gracious hostess and her breakfasts are amazing. Her yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and homemade granola is a must have breakfast item. Her homemade afternoon cookies are also a treat. We stayed in the lovely blue room, but every room was cozy and inviting. Our favorite spot was the porch swing where we sat and enjoyed our morning coffee and our evening glass of wine. We highly recommend the Mermaid Inn and we look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you, Josephine, for your warm hospitality.
This is a charming B&B that is reasonably priced with a great location that is in a quiet area but within walking distance of the downtown, the water, and all the shops and restaurants. The inn itself is quaint - it has that old New England feel to it. In the main room downstairs, you can always have some cookies, play games, and make tea. The adjacent room has a grand piano in it, which is really cool. The bedrooms are upstairs. Ours was the Rose Room, and it was really nice! The innkeeper, Josephine, was super nice and very helpful - as it was our first time in Mystic. A hearty breakfast is delivered by time slot schedule (which you fill out) b/w 8-10 outside on the veranda, and it was very pleasant. Parking on the property in the back is included, and you can even access an in-ground pool right across the street as a guest of the inn. Will def be back here again!
We had a magical stay at the Mermaid Inn! The breakfast in the gazebo was a highlight we weren't expecting and won't soon forget. Our room was comfortable, the inn is walking distance to anything in Mystic, parking was easy, and Josephine was a wonderful hostess. We can't wait to come back!
Really cute little inn right in town. I loved how walkable everything is and the inn itself is very quaint and nice. We booked the blue room because it has a private bathroom. The room also had AC, mini-fridge, and TV. My only complaint (which is pretty minor) was that the wrought iron headboard wasn't super comfortable, but that's maybe just a personal preference thing. The owner had tea and cookies out for the whole weekend, and prepared breakfast for us in the morning. It was delicious! Definitely recommend, particularly for couples wanting to experience a quaint New England get away.
We were passing through the area, so we only had one night to visit. So glad we chose here. Such a lovely Bed & Breakfast. So charming and beautiful. It is so fitting for such a beautiful seashore community. We highly recommend staying here if you get the opportunity. Make sure that you do not miss out on their world class breakfast! Absolutely delicious!
The Mermaid Inn is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast perfectly located near the heart of downtown Mystic, CT. It was just a very short walk to the drawbridge and the center of everything, as well as a few blocks away from the Mystic Museum and Shipyard. We stayed in the Blue Room which was perfect for our weekend stay. It was clean and comfortable with its own in room private bath.||Our host was very accommodating and attentive to our schedule by asking what time we would like breakfast! And the breakfasts were very very good, with fresh fruit parfaits, lobster omelets, Belgian waffles...||I highly recommend the Mermaid Inn if visiting Mystic, and will certainly stay here again.||Larry & Chris
We canât say enough about our stay at the House of 1833. Our experience was wonderful for so many reasons, starting with the innkeeper Evan. He is so welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and a phenomenal cook. The breakfasts are very creative and de
We had shrimp fried rice and cauliflower tikla marsala. Really good. The chef cooks to order so the food is fresh, the carrots still with a little crunch, the vegetables all still tasty, the rice cooked perfectly, nothing soggy from being reheated.
We had an AMAZING experience! I booked online and had some questions so called ahead. The staff were very helpful and didnât seem bothered by my calling. When we did the run through and even throughout the course all of the staff were helpful to my
Our 1st stay was in the Valiant Room-so cute, dockside & paired to look like the inside of a ship- we loved it. Last week, We stayed in the Kathleen Suite & it was spacious with all the extras . It was 1st floor , which we prefer with a comply bed( b
Great place to visit and shop around at various stores. Sticky Situation, the glass jewelry place, extra virgin olive oil, and Munson's chocolate are all great places. The area around Christmas time takes new life and is a joy to experience. They had
Breakfast here was an absolute treat. I opted for the crab and asparagus eggs benedict, which were fantastic, however the real star of the show were the pancakes. They were some of the most delicious and fluffy pancakes I've ever had. Make sure to tr
CHOCOLATE! Yumm! Delicious signature chocolate drink. Chatted with the owner who makes this special chocolate. Friendly host! I grabbed the Hawaiian chocolate that is hard to get. Owner states the best chocolate is from Ecuador, I tried it and, yes,
Itâs a great place to learn lots of history. Well preserved museum town. Initially I thought I wasted spending for this place. But as I enter each museum rooms, it was very interesting. Great way to learn about the past of a port town. Lovely demo
