Meritage Resort And Spa - Resort hotel in Napa - 875 Bordeaux Way, USA

The interior design and wall decor was so elegant and welcoming. It reflects relaxation and spa-oriented mood very well. I was impressed to see the complimentary extra set of “for curly hair” shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in-conditioner! This is a first. Complimentary wine(s) and water upon arrival is always a plus.||Being on the second floor with a balcony our room was a lovely location. Even though there were guests in adjacent rooms, we didn’t hear them while inside our rooms except for the occasional opening of some door(s) in the hallway. ||The pool temperature and layout was lovely and well designed. The gym had a variety of options and well kept. The Club Lounge is super fun, good selection of food (mushroom tacos were decadent), and has a bowling alley! The Olive + Hay restaurant served delicious food options although they were struggling with a slight fly issue yet we were kindly reseated to a more comfortable area. ||SPA: I had a “mother’s to be” massage. PLEASE NOTE, per policy you cannot receive a massage within the first trimester here. They have a card you fill out prior to your massage. The only massage available for pregnancies is the mother to be massage. Highly recommend massage therapist Mercer. He was not only well-versed with the body which he would be more than competent for other massage categories, he was well-versed and experienced with mothers to newborns, pre-post natal, and in-person births! As a ballet dancer that has received some of the world’s best massage therapists I was SO grateful the director matched me up with Mercer.

We really enjoyed ourselves at Meritage for the Blue Note Jazz Festival. You should definitely host it again. I think Meritage could really ramp up restaurant offerings, menu options and open times during the festival as people really enjoyed the sit-down dining options and would have spent even more money on property with more robust restaurant options. Our housekeeper for Suite 6366 was exceptional: so kind, warm, attentive and detail oriented. Her name started with a C and unfortunately I'm blanking on it right now. Andrew and Alexander at the front desk of the Meritage did a fab job juggling all of my package deliveries and I was appreciative of their attention to detail and warmth. All of the valet guys were so upbeat and kind, especially Rico. Lovely meeting the GM Boris and chatting with him as well. Thank you.

The Meritage is a nice resort. We chose it because we had tickets to a Blue Note concert that is held onsite. The amenities are good, and the room was nice. For the price, we expected more. It seemed like they had minimal staff, which maybe it's their plan to have staff be under the radar. We've stayed in a lot of high-end resorts and felt the Meritage's customer welcome and services were average.

Loved the resort and especially the breakfasts! We had some waiting for a hostess to come to the desk for seating for breakfast on a couple of days. My other observation has to do with housekeeping. There were lots of spiderwebs in the windows around the hostess desk. The reason I likely noticed them was because there is a beautiful ceiling treatment on the soaring ceiling above this lobby area that draws your eye up to it. For that reason I would expect them to pay extra attention to the lobby and its upper regions. Also there was a huge lovely chandelier over the hostess desk and it had at least 6 bulbs not burning. I can give you one or two but six burned out bulbs means someone has been ignoring them for some time. (I momentarily wondered if California required every third bulb to be loosened to save on electricity but then saw other hotels and restaurants with 100% of their bulbs working so decided this wasn’t the case.) I’m not in the hospitality industry but I do know details matter and it is comforting when I don’t see spiderwebs and all the bulbs are lit in a space or fixture then it gives me confidence that they are taking care of details BEHIND the scenes as well. Meritage, I think you can do better.

What a beautiful resort! The staff are very accommodating! The rooms have been updated and beautiful! Let me tell you about the food! Every meal was so delectable and delicious! Breathtaking views and a walking trail through the vineyards! Perfection and privacy! Pools are well maintained! There is really no need to ever leave the resort! So happy to have a relaxing getaway!

Think twice before catching a musical performance here. The establishment uses chairs in a manner for which they were not designed, resulting in an extremely cramped and unnecessarily uncomfortable situation. (Child size) "standard wedding chairs" (per management) are zip tied tight together, instead of having the manufacturer recommended 7.5" space between them, leaving less than the required 19.5" " width allotted for each guest to sit. Regardless of your size, you will be rubbing shoulders, arms, hips and legs with people on both sides of you. As will everyone else. Cramped isn't even an adequate word for this intentional issue they force on their guests. Other than that, and the poor quality and expensive food offered at musical performance events, the place is beautiful, in a very nice location. It is truly a shame that they completely ruin the experience by not having adequate seating. Metal folding chairs would be a welcome upgrade, no joke. Metal folding chairs are also designed to interlock side to side, so they provide considerably more seating surface per chair. The "wedding chairs" are not designed to be placed this close, hence the reason the staff has to zip tie them together in order to appease the fire Marshall. (Even though the spacing should not be approved) You may think, "oh it's not a big deal" , or "they wouldn't do that if it was really that bad", but yes they do. Clearly compromising guests comfort is something they are willing to do, in order to use the wrong type of chairs and save a few bucks. For the cost of tickets to any of their shows, it is truly unacceptable in so many ways. Shame on you Meritage for allowing and perpetuating this absolute nonsense in the name of profit.

When comparing this hotel/resort to the others in the area, Meritage wins. The resort itself is beautiful, with stunning views and walking paths. Moreover, it offers many different activities and amenities for its guests. The SPA is excellent after a full day of drinking. Their restaurant options are also impressive; you can have your wine. The rooms could use some freshen-up, but otherwise, I recommend staying here.

This place has everything you need. You don't even need to leave the property. We had a quick overnight but it was perfect. You can do wine tasting, have a meal, lay by a beautiful pool, walk the grounds and go bowling. What more do you need.
