Mendota County Park is located off County Rd M near the intersection of County Rds Q and M in the Town of Westport, a few miles southwest of Governor Nelson State Park. The park has a 30-unit campground and a 5-unit boat camping area. Each campsite has a 30-amp electrical hook-up. Please note an extension cord may be needed to connect some recreational vehicles to the electric pedestal.
We love to stay in this park in our class a motorhome for several reasons. We always stay here when we come in early fall for Wisconsin badger football games. It is a pretty green park with beautiful trees and nice grass. The lake is close by and times you can have a nice view from your RV spot. It is close to restaurants, shopping, and downtown. The negatives are it can be very smoky with everyone’s campfires burning, it can be tight for big rigs to drive around and back into their spot. If it’s raining, it can be very muddy and people will pull right into your spot and make a huge muddy mess in your patio area. The bugs and mosquitoes can be brutal so we always come prepared.
As long as there has been car camping you have been able to pay with cash. Not here. You are required to register online. What if I don't have a smartphone? What if I don't want to put my credit card information on a website? This is ludicrous
I hear they are completely redoing the park fall of 2024. Its is one big lake when it rains. The homeless live here ands it’s heartbreaking to watch, especially the animals and kids. Thankful they have a safe place. Not the tranquil relaxing park it could be.
We stayed here for one night as we were passing through heading north. The campground bathrooms were clean and sufficient, just a little outdated. It is close to a beautiful lake. Each spot has a picnic table and fire pit . It is next to a busy road but it didn’t bother me. I’d stay here again.
We booked a site here two months ago, specifically close to where relatives reside. This is not our first visit to the park, or in scheduling it online!! We arrived just after 2pm 5/31/24.. got all set up and left to enjoy our day, not arriving back until 10pm . My husband received a call from the Ranger telling us we weren't registered and had to leave (which was not true!) Then she told us we're registered at another camp, Babcock Co. Park.. we've never even heard of it nor do we know where it's at 😠‼️ After talking to a nearby camper who witnessed a Ranger knocking hard in our door and telling her we were gone for the day... he noticed she put a citation for $60 for a nonregistered guest and left after returning several times beating on the RV door because another camper was registered there too and they wanted in. We left our telephone # upon registering as asked to..but it wasn't until receiving a call THAT NITE AT 9:45PM telling us we needed to leave because we weren't registered, that we were aware of an issue... and we'd been sitting there all set up since 2pm😣 with no one seemingly aware or trying to get a hold of us until bedtime!!!!!!! The Ranger had put the other people into another spot then told us to leave ASAP in the a.m.! Once back at our campsite after the call, as we're getting ready to go to bed.. there comes more pounding at the door from the Ranger(not the one who called us apparently) & she was demanding to know just who we were and wanting to see our IDs like we were criminals or something. We told her all that info was on the registration site and to CHK there if she had questions, and offered to show our driver's license. Meanwhile my husband stated "when you called us".. & she stated she'd never called us and both my husband and I showed her the call. how were we to know she wasn't the caller.. both were
The park was well maintained and the lake is a short walk from the campground. The bathrooms and showers were sufficient and clean. It is a public park with a public boat landing, so the facilities are used by more than just campers. The campsites were very level with gravel pads and grass. No bare/dirt spots which is great when you have a dog! The campsites were close to a busier road, so you did get some city noise.
The park was clean, the employees were super nice. There was room for my dog to catch a Frisbee. They loaned us a basketball, and they provided a 30amp extension. The lake is very nice, the swim area is well maintained. The park is close to shopping, laundry, restaurants... but still nice and quiet.
A little close to high traffic, but the campground is meticulously maintained. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful. Nearby shower and lav. Overall a good place to stay if you're exploring Madison and want to camp while doing so!
Always a nice little stroll. Small field for soccer and a boardwalk to the adjacent plaza is pleasant for bird watching and ends at a small playground with basketball and volleyball courts.
Tasty simple Fired Pizza, clean delicious ingredients was great after a long day outside. Was our first Cannoli.... wasn't what we expected however it was tasty.
Nice paved paths. Lots of wild life. Small creeks & decent view of the river. There were a lot of places on the path without a map. 2/3rd of the way around the trial there is public restrooms & a place to get cold water.
Anytime Fitness-Middleton is the best! The trainers and staff are excellent. They are very knowledgeable, always happy to help with questions, and care about each of their members - you are greeted by name when you arrive. I love the community feel,
Cute little coffee shop with a small dining area and drive through. They have a program where if you scan a QR code and upload a photo, they will donate a meal to the local food pantry - I love that so much! They can even make your favorite candy bar
I ordered the blue cheese and bacon burger. I specified medium rare. I don't typically order rares in restaurants as they rarely get it right, they got it right!! Our server Jessica was as attentive as she could be for a Friday night. For dessert I o
