Mel-O-Dee Restaurant & Catering - Diner in New Carlisle - 2350 S Dayton-Lakeview Rd, USA

We stopped in for dinner during our visit to Dayton. It seems they are always busy and this time is no exception. We had 6 people in our party, we didn't have to wait long and they got us seated very quickly. With 6 people in our party, we ordered a variety of meals. Fried Chicken is their specialty which was very delicious and cooked to perfection. All the other meals were also delicious. The place has plenty of seating with a great atmosphere. Our waitresses was awesome and very attentive and our food came out very quickly. We had a wonderful dining experience.

Very busy diner! It is so much larger on the inside than it looks on the outside. We were greeted with a smile & "welcome! How are you folks?" even thru the busyness of others being seated and people checking out.. Our waitress was very nice and we were served very quick. She brought us our drinks along with a bread basket of white and rye bread (homemade!😋). Our food was delicious! Served piping hot and portion sizes are plentiful. My daughter ordered her cheeseburger without bread/bun. We got the all-you-can-eat fish special. You will not leave here hungry! We will be back.☺

Food was great . Small place, not real busy. Was able to eat and get out in timely manor. The service was really good

Very slow paced. Food came out quickly. Bacon cheese burger was smaller than McDonald’s. The patty was minuscule and poor quality meat. The cheese was the cheap fake stuff. There was more French fries than burger. Portion was small for price. Quality was poor for a diner and service is slow. Will not be returning

I’m genuinely so confused. We ordered take out for a burger platter and a chicken tender platter…. And we were given literally a burger patty and a singular chicken tender… that’s it no sides no bun for the burger nothing that’s it. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry I’ve never had something like this happen.

This is your classic diner. You can tell it's a local favorite. My date and I were the youngest people there by far, the clientele seemed to be all friendly older folk. They have amazing fresh baked bread. They had a ton of Christmas decorations up right now and with all the people, it was a bit overstimulating for me, so warning to anyone else on the spectrum. Other than that, great place to go!

A sign of a good restaurant is when the parking lot is almost full. We stopped at the Mel-O-Dee for lunch. I was surprised we were seated right away as crowded as it was. I ordered the Mel-O-Dee burger with french fries and their homemade coleslaw. My wife ordered the fish sandwich with french fries and coleslaw. The Mel-O-Dee burger had a special sauce that was homemade. The food was excellent and portion size was above average. Carol our waitress was awesome. She was very quick to take our drink order. She was very quick to take our food order as well. She was always coming by and checking on us. The food was prepared and was delivered quickly. The checkout process was done quickly. Everyone was especially nice and very friendly. This is a great restaurant with a lot of menu items. A great place to dine at.

I'm currently in Ohio for work, but I'm originally from South Carolina and feeling a bit homesick. I decided to check out the Soul Food Mel-O-Dee restaurants that popped up on Google. The food arrived promptly, and the customer service was exceptional. I'll definitely be returning for another visit.
